Re: Potential Future Classics

My choices-

Hyundai Santro Zip Drive - The Iconic tall boy! The product that not only launched but also rocketed Hyundai to the top of the charts in India!

Hyundai Accent- A well rounded quintessential sedan of it’s time!

Maruti 800- Need I say anything about this one!

Re: Future Classics

The only sporty sedan from Maruti, THE SX4 is also going to become a classic, proud owner from past 15 years

Re: Future Classics

There were many Future Classics I wanted to mention but I would've dragged the thread for another 10 pages hence the self-imposed restrictions of Mainstream, New(Post 2010), and Affordable(~10 lakhs) Cars only. There are so many CKD/CBU cars, Expensive cars, and Older cars which are guaranteed to go up in value and desirability but won't be mentioned in this post.

1)Fiat Punto Abarth- It was a solidly built, fairly cheap, and a powerful hatch for us Indians and the only true 'Hot Hatch' sold here apart from the Imported GTI.

2)VW Polo GT TSI- The hatch that introduced Turbocharged petrol engines and Dual Clutch transmissions to the common people. Easily one of the most impressionable and influential car on the list.

3)MS Baleno RS- The car itself wasn't all that special or noteworthy but it was perhaps the only turbo petrol car that was sold by Suzuki and it will have a certain novelty and rarity factor to it.

4)Tata Tiago JTP- A fun, rare, performance-oriented hatchback from Tata?? It did surprise the market because it was a genuinely good effort but unfortunately it got axed too soon.

5)Renault Duster AWD- It had everything which the Indian Market demanded. It was a Diesel, AWD, Crossover, Good GC, and cheap to own.

6)MS S-Cross 1.6- It certainly punched above its weight but the badge and the targeted audience weighed it down. It was perhaps the only modern Suzuki that felt like a genuine effort. Sad to see that it wasn't sold all that well and it was shut down.

This quote from 2015 has come true in a perfect manner.
As owner of V1 Thar I would certainly hope it becomes more desirable as time passes by.

Re: Future Classics

Seems everyone has forgotten about the Ford Ikon. Was my first personal car - had a rocket of an engine with great handling. Deserves to be on the list.

Great car; but as for sportiness in Maruti Stable.
That Honour goes to Old Baleno and Even Esteem
Both of them were a hit in the rally circuit

Re: Future Classics

The Lancer is quite a modern classic if you refer it as the undisputed rally champion. The show car of the 00s after the Swift and Octavia. This one still is the king of the best handling chassis and unparalleled Mitsubishi reliability. This deadly combo of the stable mates Lancer and Pajero cemented Mitsubishi into Indian hearts and had the best sales of its Era. It may be a biased opinion for some but after experiencing the chassis in flesh, no other car than the new Polo could beat it in terms of handling. Attaching a reference of my 23 year old beast.
Keep in mind that both the cars are actually one with different paint jobs
