The least they could have done, is to spruce the engine up a bit.Makes sense in calling it 'Sporty' only then. A spoiler & alloys make no difference in this case.

The kit is good looking but I would have expected something more from Toyota. When Ford could give a 1.6S they should have tried a little harder.

Even in other markets S or sports version is bodykit only with bigger wheels with no changes to the engine.

If the Altis is sporty, then I pity Ferrari/Lamborghini/McLaren - since they've got it so wrong according to Toyota.

the 'sport' can be debated, but I quite like the look of the exterior!

cheers

Oh.. One more Special Edition!? Or is it?

One of the few truly special edition cars (though it was never launched intentionally as a 'Special edition) was the Alto with the 1.1 engine. All its owners have bought a Special Edition in disguise.

Well the body kit looks good on the car but the car is nowhere close to sporty.

They have added more fake wood in the rear cupholders and claim that to be sporty. How does a sport version have any fake wood at all??

The chrome door side strips, chrome door handles, chrome grill accents, and rear number plate garnish have to go for chrome.

They should have got the XRS mesh grill and atleast put 205 tyres on 16" wheels.

Exteriors should have been like this:

The interiors should have been this:

All show and no go. A true desi "sports" sedan. Even the "show" is suspect until i see a car in the flesh, or someone here posts pics of the same as the skirting only makes the car look bulkier in the photo.

^^ As mentioned earlier its not just 'desi'. Even the Corolla S in the US is just a body kit without any actual sportiness added. To get a real difference one needs to get the XRS.

Today, the TOI in chennai carried an ad for Corolla Altis Executive. Any idea what is that now? Downward and upward range expansion (stripped down and sports model both launched?)?

To me, this sports version is a joke... it is some Rs. 50K more than the normal version (the sport version is available only in the 'G' variant)

I happened to check out (no TD though) the sports version. On the interior, i couldnt find any significant change. Not sure whether the 'so called' sporty looks are worth the extra money.

The Altis is a sleek looking car, while Civic is sporty. The Altis is trying to go the Civic way, but IMHO it won't work...

I wonder why is everyone surprised, didnt Honda do the same with Civic Sports?

As for the car, fittings look extra market & not OEM though need to see them in person to comment better.

well here in middle east despite having a good following and demand for sports versions of sedans like Civic Type R, honda hasnt launched it!

so when the OEMs want to clear their over crowded stock yards they come up with ideas like Limited Edition or Sports Edition.

Civic with paddle shift gears was launched in uae as 2009 face lift model where as it was launched in india before the facelift 2009 model.

here are some more of Sport Edition Camry, Yaris, Corolla, FJ, Fortuner and RAV 4.

no change in engines or even the damn body of these cars, but still they are "Sport Editions"!

but the pricing of these vehicles is pretty cheap!!! look at these pricing guys!
