i heard the no. was 10,000
but don't think that all 10,000 orders will be placed

some people give advance prior to launch & after having a close look/test drive if they don't like it then simply cancel their order & if there is good discount on Getz then add few more people to that

but consider overall no to be around 7000 (true no I am talking about)

Swift with 1.3L Esteem engine

It looks that entire country is talking about Swift. May be true as the biggest car manufacturer has offered a very new look product after so many years.

The only point of discussion noted among the enthusiasts is the engine block, which is nothing but esteem 1.3 L engine at the core.

Can long time Esteem owners enlighten us about the quality of this engine say after 10K , 25K, 30K km drive. or any other issues or plus points of this engine.

Except India and China , the world over swift is launched with new engine, we should have been given an option (may be at a price) for the new engine.

Experts please comment

no.it does not have that feature, nor does it have the central MID.in fact no swift model has audio player as standard.

The built-in deck system offered by the Suzuki Swift abroad seemed nice.

The best built-in deck system IMO is in the Honda Accord. Nothing beats it, nothing even comes close.

the reason it cannot be launched is due to the goverment norms and the trrend that everybody follows:" INDIA IS THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY"S WASTE BIN, DUMP YOUR OLD AND OUTDATED STUFF HERE IT WILL SELL!!!!!!!!"

Nice to see this new stuff thread on Swift. If I remember correct, I had seen a post from GTO that maintenance of OHC Vtech is cheaper than Esteen in long run of 100k kms. This is not is general opinion & based on this spendings for both Esteem and Honda City Vtech.

the esteem 1.3 mpfi engine is a very "tried and tested" model.
its been in use with the rally and road racing teams for quite a while . i dont think there would be any problems with the engine... except that its a bit underpowered for the swift.

Hi Guys,

what do you think are the best tyre upgrade options for the swift, i'm planning to go for a Swift Vxi ABS and i was told that they come with 165/80 R 14 Tubeless tyres, with normal rims.

It would be great if someone could walk me through the possible options and also the approx pricing. I'm looking to upgrade to 185/70 R 14's.

After some delay finally drove the swift yesterday. A good round of the city with the AC on..

Was a Tad dissapointed. The bottom end response was a little muted strictly viz a viz esteem(maybe coz of the extra weight). The gearshift is short unlike other Maruti's Zen and Esteem .Overall the performance seemed good.

Best on the reviews here, Veyron1's advice and my own driving experience i have booked the Zxi Silver colour. As has been mentioned in the forum the handling and ride was miles ahead of other maruti's and even the Indica.

My only wishes: they could have made the back seat a little more roomy and airy.. Dunno why but i get a little bit of clausterphobia on the back seat..
The rear leg room is lesser than the Indica and palio both.

Perhaps they cud have put a new engine instead of using the esteems powerplant..i guess people wud have paid 30-40k extra for a new engine.

I have read the OD's figures on FE this month - giving a 14kpl overall and 20kpl under best conditions. That's roughly comparable to Esteem which is 125 kg Lighter than the Vxi. It's hard to believe.

I guess we'll know more about performance and FE when the car hits the streets..and people drive it under actual driving conditions..
