Re: Which Indian Car has mid-engine RWD?

i think a mid engine rwd would be so unnecessary in a sedan since typically we buy sedans for a back seat comfort and a boot.

Yeah, True!

We need a mid-engine RWD car in India!

The OHC will be best for drifting if the car becomes an RWD. (OHC is not a mid-engined one...)

Importing a japanese car is quite difficult and costs a lot of money.

Regards

Re: Which Indian Car has mid-engine RWD?

Yes, the Maruti Omni is very much a mid-engine rear-wheel-drive layout. It is also very very tall.

I was not able to find this video, but Richard Hammond (of Top Gear UK fame) used the Omni - or Suzuki Carry - in a van challenge. Read all about it here:
Jeremy Clarkson Top Gear - Cheap Car Challenge

It is the "Series 8, Episode 8 - The Top Gear White Van Man Challenge"

Re: Which Indian Car has mid-engine RWD?

Since we'r talking about the Omni,
I remember watching an episode of Fifth Gear where they use a Bedford Rascal modified to drift. I feel it is very identical to the Maruti Omni we have here.

I'm posting the video below

Re: Which Indian Car has mid-engine RWD?

GTO,NANO would be the answer to the question,Its rear wheel drive and the engine is between the front and rear axle.

Does the Versa and Eeco fit this bill? How about the Nano?

if we look back i think one car which qualifies is BADAL (the three wheels car, i guess it was rear engine) i saw them in early 80s but never after that.

Nope, Veyron. The Badal was a 3 wheeler, rear wheel driven, but with the engine in the FRONT and a fibre glass body

Re: Which Indian Car has mid-engine RWD?

No Ram, the Nano is Rear Engine (the engine is behind the rear axle) and GTO wants a MIDENGINE (engine must be between the axles like a Lamborghini !!! and NOT an import)

Re: Which Indian Car has mid-engine RWD?

If I remember correctly in the 1998 auto-expo TATA had introduced a concept car, a sedan. TATA PRIMA (not sure of the name). It had the engine sitting in the front but was a rear wheel drive car.

Nope, not the Prima, believe it is the Magna you are talking about.
But it is FR layout, not MR.Wish it was launched.Think of a RWD Camry size car for 10 lacs.
Can't think of even one car except FMR layout(omin, eeco
