Umm.. the 1.6 MJD for the Linea, the 1.3 MJD with VGT for the Punto- that sounds a lot more sensible

A wacky idea- how about Fiat offering an engine/ gearbox exchange for the existing Linea/ Punto users at a price? Take out Punto's 1.3 FGT and give it to the Vista, plug in the 1.3 VGT from the Lineas in the Puntos, and put in the 1.6 in the Lineas!

This is good news! I think manufacturing the 1.9 in India would be a better deal for Fiat, as this engine, if I remember correctly, uses the same block as the erstwhile 1.9 Palio D. Fiat was also locally producing that engine at the time they discontinued that version. Producing 1.9 JTD in India could probably be cheaper than producing 1.6.

True. Their best bet is with 1.6MJD. 1.9 might turn out to be way more expensive (almost into civic/altis range) and people will start saying why pay this much for a Fiat when you can get Honda-city at lesser price.

A 120bhp engine would really take the fight in both C+ & D segments.

Is Fiat also planning to launch Punto Evo also in the doemestic market smetime soon , fiat desperately needs an interior overhaul more than a new engine if it has to stay competitive in the market it is an excellent car and needs to be slotted higher than its current benchmark of C -

+1 to your point. Mere engine upgrade will not work much for Fiat. Interior overhauling is equally important as well. For a lakh or 1.2 Lakhs more if Fiat could provide the new engines with much improved interiors, we have got a good deal on our hands.

Couple of my colleagues in office bought the linea recently (2-3 months back) and except for the logos getting stolen there have been no complains, yep one of them (who almost chose the Fiesta SXI) find power a bit less, but other than that the quality of the interiors are Ok.

It's all about what you upgrade from, If the upgrade is from a Santro as in their case the interior quality is great, expecially the considering the features, the noise insulation and the ride quality.

1.6 MJD would suffice.

Is that just for the auto expo or will be the 1.6 MJD be sold only in the E Pack trim level? Any idea what kind of a price increase we can expect?

Great scoop Sid! Thanks...

If Active & Dynamic base is out, it simply means ABS becomes standard across the Linea PL!

That could also mean that Linea will start at higher prices. It is like taking the car a segment higher.

Not by a big margin I guess since Fiat is yet to see bigger volumes in Linea sales. Not that the Linea was doing bad, but for Linea to be a hit!

I have read that FIAT is showcasing the 1.9 MJD at the Autoexpo and not 1.6 MJD. BS Motoring had an article stating it has been confirmed that FIAT is showcasing 1.9 MJD at the Autoexpo. I recollect another thread with in an interview with Rajeev Kapoor, that 1.6 MJD is not coming to India.

Maybe and i hope it is true, Linea Emotion and Emotion pk comes with 1.9 MJD option and Punto Emotion and Emotion PK comes with 1.3 VGT. Now that would be wonderful....
