I could not agree more. This is the single biggest reason IMO for all the challenges that the average joe citizen in India faces. Whether its a car dealership, a restaurant, government agencies, the cops, etc etc etc, you cannot bring a single person who has wronged you to book because of the painfully slow legal system and the lack of provision in the law to sue people like these out of their shirts. And this is not going to change either as it would lead to those in power becoming financially accountable for their misdeeds. I feel sorry for you Harish, I can't even begin to imagine the trauma you must have gone through with your visits to Nummer Eins, the cops and what not. All I can say is, all the best mate.

Cheers,
can you please explain this in more simple language. I am not able to understand what exactly you are saying. Are you saying that Harish could have accepted letter but have commented on it that he do not accept skoda's comments / statement, but acknowledges receipt of letter? Please explain in more detail. Also, thank you for knowledgeable post, i read it like, 3-4 times.

I think a better idea would be that team-bhp members who support this cause send a protest email to senior Skoda-India officials (Harish who probably tell us who) all on the same pre-decided date. 100+ (i am hoping) might force them to do something about it.
Harish,

let us know where can we send followers to skoda India officials with message

GET WELL SOON
return HARISH's car with compensation

Sending an e-mail to Skoda with a link to this thread will be like rubbing salt on a wound. I'd love to see their reaction.

oh.. I did not know this. they have been advertising big time in Mumbai too. What a shame. How can we let these frauds start another venture in car maintenance

In my entire correspondence with Skoda I have always had only 2 demands
1. My car to be returned properly rectified with original spares
2. Action to be taken against the dealer.

What I never asked from them, although I am entitled to, was compensation and replacement with a new car.

Skoda took care of one of my demands. God knows what's holding them back on the other. All they had to do was just say
'We are sorry. We have chucked the dealer out. Here is your repaired car back'. Simple.

However now that it is 1 year that the car has been lying in a low lying area in Bhandup throughout this monsoon, I have no clue as to the condition of the car. Here, after judgement, i would like to avail of our own TBHPian expert help to assess the condition of the car and whether I should collect the car or claim for the value of the car.

Changing this system is a nightmare friend.
frankly speaking harish, after all this trouble you have gone through and all the monetary loss suffered, where do you think this would reach? best possibility is that you will get a new car from skoda (though that does not seem too easy. you might even get the same car repaired after all this!) and compensation amount equivalent to the cost of legal fees and other expenses incurred. thats it! and in a matter of time people will forget things (I dont mean team-bhp members here. as after seeing this case, we would think many times before dealing with skoda) and lives will be as usual and skoda will still sell its cars like hot cakes! and as you yourself said, that Damages awarded in our courts are very minuscule. so you cant expect skoda and the dealer to really feel the pinch and pay for its deeds the way it would have been forced to if such a thing would have happened in US or somewhere.. so after going through all this hellish experience, wasting your so much of valuable time and also so much more money on various procedures.. what do you get at the end of the day?! forget the damn skoda or the fraud dealers.. but the important question is.. what about you?! after going through sooo much , my friend, you are not even getting a vehicle to drive after spending 12 lakhs!!! so my point here, buddy, is that maybe you should have accepted the car back when skoda was ready to change all the spurious parts with original parts last year itself. I agree here with whatever Ravveendrra said earlier. and its only because I think that in all this, you are the one who is still at a loss. so it would have been better if, you would have for a while, just thought about yourself and taken the decission. because after all the guys you are fighting with, would do everything in their power to defend themselves and cover up their deeds. because it looks like whole big chain of corruption with many top level guys involved. and they have no other way but to defend themselves otherwise the dealer and the company both would suffer immensely. because if one is exposed, he will blame it on another and expose him too!

and please dont mind my saying all this. I mean no offend to you or whoever in whatever manner. I am saying this only after thinking about your benefit. but now since the things have changed, now I also am of the opinion that dont accept the car. not now. not after all this time and all this mess. now you take the fight ahead and we all are here to support you. hope all this ends soon and you get Justice after all! My best wishes are with you.

Roadworx (Roadworx.in) is a aftermarket service center for high end imported cars.
It is promoted by One Stone International Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai in joint venture with Roadworks, Hamburg, Germany

The Directors are :
Imran Hassen (Ex-Skoda MD)
Ravneet S. Medi (NummerEins)
Frank Lischewsky (Roadworks, Germany)
H.S. Vijan (NummerEins)

Presently they have 6 branches in India - 4 in Mumbai, 1 in Pune & 1 in Gurgaon
Of this 5 branches are handled by NummerEins & Pune is with Velocity Motors.
This info will help and save alot of people. I myself was impressed by their add in the paper wouldn't have thought twice before going there. but not now. No way! Great work! and also good point raised and clever thinking, GTO.

harishv, you can be sure that there are many of us who have reading this thread and supporting you, even if not posting.

My feeling is that letter doesn't say 'Skoda didn't do it', or that you admit that Skoda didn't do it, it says that it has not been proved that they did. If it was me, I think I would insist on some such words as "without prejudice to any ongoing or future investigation or action" (I am not a lawyer) being added, or even add them yourself, and sign. As Magikrider says; get the car back.

You have achieved an amazing amount in terms of the media coverage that you have had, and even in this thread on an influential site. I really do believe that companies should not be able to get away with this sort of behaviour. Already, I think that you have not let them get away with it. A projected-as-premium brand has some pretty dirty marks on it.

Get your car back and, if you can after all this, enjoy it.

Dude, you vastly underestimate the power of tbhp, internet users and word of mouth power.

And averaging around 600 cars all over India a month is not not exactly what many would call selling like hot cakes

Sighhhhhhhhhhhh. Skoda sorrow stories just don't stop. Received the following via email (phone number withheld). Skoda can launch all the superbs in the world, but unless they upgrade their 2 rupee service to a truly "superb" level, they really aren't going anywhere.

What he means by "illegally detained for a week" ??? I thought it is only the cops who "illegaly detain".

Harish,

Sorry to hear about the problems you've had. The Skoda Octavia was a car i've always liked. But now after reading your experience I'm completely turned away.

Just wanted to say that I am amazed by your perseverance and determination to get justice done. I've tried to help by posting a negative feedback with the link to this thread on Skoda India's site - ?koda Auto - Query. Not sure whether this will help but this is one more potential customer that Skoda has lost.

Drive on!!

Mods: There are far too many complaints (and threads) about Skoda. May be you need to create a separate topic for these so that we can see the true magnitude of the problem. I will suggest Skoda Service Sucks (SSS) as the title.

seems harish's media prints have made more harrased skoda owners to come upfront and let people know what does this world class company is giving to indian customers, its shameful to let this practise continue in our market.
sgiitk, agree on your idea of creating new thread for SSS title with more complaints getting in, which would be good to figure out more mess up in skoda india.

Skoda India seems to have taken over the crown of the prince of poor A** from Fiat India. An observation : in my city the oldest Fiat/Premier dealer no longer deals in Fiat; they are now the only Skoda dealer of the region.
