Yes, there is a minor element of steering column rattling. The SA at Honda has recommended a complete change if the rattling worsens. As of now, it's good enough to drive.

Not impossible. In North America one can cover that distance in around 11-12 hours of driving.

My work place is 95 kms away from my home and it usually takes around 45-50 mins to reach there. :D

Back home it used to take more than 1.5 hours to cover 30 kms from my home in Delhi to workplace in Gurgaon. :uncontrol

My father's official ride is a 12 year old Bolero Slx with DI Turbo engine. The car's daily run is anywhere between 30-120 kms on any working day unless he is traveling outstation. Till date, the car has done 297xxx kms with stock engine. Tyres, clutch and few other consumables have been changed but everything else is stock.

Some other vehicles in the department include three Zest Revotron and 7-8 Boleros of similar make and vintage. While the Boleros have done anywhere between 1.5-3.5L kms, the Zests are in the +/- 1L km range. The Zest petrols are particularly running trouble free with just routine maintenance.

For the past few years, the office transport dept. has been insisting to replace father's ride with a new car which will be a sedan or a compact sedan but he simply refuses. He hates the sedans for being low slung and lacking comfort on uneven roads due to stiff suspension and low profile tyres. This is where his Bolero shines - the spring loaded front seat, IFS, high profile tyres, chilling AC and a commanding view of the road front seat, he just doesn't want to move on.

As I quoted in page 42 in this thread, the lady is working as a delivery driver. She drives for a living, pretty much 10+ hrs a day, 365 days a year. Another quoted person also has done 1.5 mn. miles but on 4 different cars.

Besides she is from Kansas, which has pretty much empty highways, arrow straight interstates with minimal patrolling. You'll either overspeed or fall asleep :D

365 days a year is more realistically becomes around 260 when you exclude weekends! Quite unlikely that any human can manage to drive all 365, the average shoots up quite high even if you consider that she took only a couple of days off every month.

Buddy, the owners have been changed within the family itself. Not even the extended family.

My wife's colleague in the US drives a 2003 Jeep Liberty which has 140,000 miles (2.25 lakh km). Still has the original engine and gives about 20 miles per gallon (~8-9 kmpl) on highways.

In general, I have noticed that cars in the US have considerably low wear and tear as compared to their Indian counterparts.

A few months ago, I had booked an Indica Vista through Uber. That car had more than 8.8 Lakh on the odo and was running just fine! Sadly couldn't take a picture though

A friend's pre worshipped Ford Fiesta is at 2,34,118 km as of today evening. Out of this, he has driven nearly 1,50,000 km. With absolutely no work done on the engine and having had its suspension components as well as all four tyres replaced recently, we hope it will go on for another lakh kilometres at least.

Taken this morning. This was an indica Vista with the Tata engine not the Fiat. Engine was in really good shape and so was the car. There was a bit of rattling in the car but not much.
The driver mentioned that besides changing the oil at regular intervals, the only other thing he had changed was the timing chain.

2005 Innova with 600000+ km and still going strong in Kerala. Owner was honoured by Nippon Toyota:

Had a 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer Lxd as the first car. Got it sold when the odo was 2,94,000 trouble free kilometers after 16 years. Absolute gem of an engine. Clutch was never replaced. Only the AC was troublesome. Had to change the condenser twice. Suspension overhauled once.

Have a Tata Ace magic minivan doing cargo delivery in the immediate family. Has done 2,30,000 KMS in 5 years. Going strong with just one accelerator cable replacement and regular consumables.

Seen a first gen indica cab running as cab where I work. Done 400,000 kms. Chugging along well.

My Swift Vdi has now crossed 200000kms and going strong. Gives average of around 17-18 kmpl...
