I am very much interested in the Ritz. I think it goes head-on with the i10 - another car which I love and am considering buying.
Sales guy in a Chennai showroom says Splash will be coming in March-April 2009, and SX4 diesel in the 2009 end. But he has no surety on these data.

IMHO this is the worst designed car if its to be launched, worse than the first gen Santro honestly i don't understand why they should bring a new car in the best selling Swift platform when they could not meet the demand of already launched models like Dezire & A Star, its better for them to introduce the Diesel SX4 to boost its falling sale instead of introducing new models frequently

In UK, Suzuki is going to introduce an entry-level Splash model with A-Star's 1 litre KB series engine! That means India also have a higher chance of getting this engine under Splash's hood.

My GOD that thing is hideous!!!
Seriously, I would rather keep this in my rear view mirror than be in his. Front is ok-ish but the back is ... I am at a loss of words here!!

But many cars with horrible rear-design, have performed well in India. Example: Wagon-R, Santro, and Indica.

Not sure, but when launched, there will be a good competition between i10 and Splash. Waiting for it!

Already the waiting time for Diesel cars from Maruti is so long.. I dont think they will provide the diesel engine as the initial offering.

This could be an ideal hatch - with the driving characteristics of the Swift, but with some more legroom and boot space.
The ugly rear is such a let down though.

Whaaaaaaat? Another new model, doesn't maruti have enough already?

I would really like them to focus on current models with improvements on the Astar as I heard it isn't really a hot seller.

Plus I would think they would be working day and night trying to find a way to get the alto to kick nano's but.

Also where is that diesel sx4? I'm sure people will line up to buy it and also prospective ANHC/Verna buyers may shift to it.

It is always good to have more offerings in the busy crowded segment, as it turns in favour of buyers.

Splash is more potential player than ugly looking A star, so Maruti Sales team will not be having problems selling it.
