Experience Fiat's Blue and ME

Heard about the Fiat's Blue & Me?
Its offered in new Fiat cars like the Fiat Bravo, Grande Punto ...

Some really practical videos about Blue & Me

fiat blue and me - Google Video

It has been developed by Fiat and Microsoft. Some details about it
Source: Fiat and Microsoft Launch Blue&Me
Instead of costly and rigid hardware, Fiat Auto and Microsoft - with the support of Magneti Marelli - will offer a platform that can be adapted to most mobile phones, digital media players and other mobile devices. The customer is free to change them with new models without compromising compatibility with the car.

Blue&Me guarantees maximum security levels and user-friendliness. The voice-activated system, the complete integration of steering wheel control buttons and information on the dashboard display will allow users to utilize any Bluetooth-based mobile phone - even if it is in a pocket or handbag - without removing hands from the steering wheel.

Thanks to a modern voice-recognition system, no preliminary voice training is needed, and even incoming SMS messages are read aloud to the driver.

Among audio functions, it is possible to listen to music stored on a mobile phone, in the newest smart phones, and in MP3 readers or USB removable sticks. All this thanks to a USB port, in the glove box, which enables the connection to any digital device with the correspondent port.

The collaboration between Fiat and Microsoft allows Blue&Me to be based on an open platform, compatible with the largest number of devices such as mobile phones, Palms and MP3 players, with the real benefit of continuously catching up with market innovations, thus maintaining the perfect integration with the car at an entry-level price.

A further short-term evolution will offer a particularly simple and interactive navigation system, and access to a set of services among which are a personal assistant to check addresses, weather and traffic forecasts, satellite localization in case of theft, SOS, and other services currently under development.

The system is a completely integrated technology with a one-to-one relation with the customer, as the name Blue&Me underlines.

.... So thats about it guys. Also I heard we can use GPS enabled devices with this so that we can interact directly and hear to directions as we drive.
Pretty cool and Smart solution.....

Fiat Blue&Me is known to be a significant milestone in the evolution of in-car communication system. Don’t know much about the specifications but know one thing that all the latest innovations are increasing the money value of the entire range of car models.

HOPE ITS NOT CONNECTED TO THE CAR ECU CONTROLS AND IS JUST LIMITED TO COMMUNICATIONS AND IT DOES'NT CRASH LIKE XP OR WIN MOBILE... IMAGINE REBOOTING YOUR CAR!
JUST KIDDING!!! But it is a very user friendly as per reports from an associate in germany who owns a Bravo & finds Blue & ME good to use.

Info sought from Ford's Sync or Blue&Me users

Hi All,

If anyone has used in-dash computer solutions like Ford's Sync or the Blue&Me (now available on the Fiat Linea as far as my knowledge goes), could you please check your phone's Bluetooth device list and tell me what the in-dash component shows up as? I mean, does it show up as a headphone or something else.

Would be great if someone could give me the in-dash device name and the Bluetooth profile as shown in the list on the connected phone.

Thanks in advance!

Today a customer of mine who had bought the Linea after I left Fiat called me up regarding help with the Blue & Me settings, everything was working fine and he was calling and receiving calls from his Nokia 6681 Phone, but from today the phone seems to be connected to Blue&Me but the calls are being made only through the phone ,have anyone else experienced this kind of problems ? If so ,what remedy did you use to get over this ?

In Fiat Linea's Blue and me the phone detects it as a Bluetooth Headset and the Device name is "Blue&Me".

What is the approximate cost?

Hey muneem, I have had this issue, I simple close the bluetooth, switch the connection and connect to Blue & Me device from my phone, works well. I am using a E71, the issues come up when the phone is using the inbuilt GPS and connected to Blue & Me. If I disconnect the phone and continue using the GPS then no problem.

When it really did not connect, I initiated B&M, went to Settings>Code. A code is displayed on the screen, after that issue is resolved phone connects to B&M.

Lots of guys, hell I think everyone who has B&M are using it, I am using the feature and I just love it. On my phone I have an option to use the headset to speak if I need privacy which works. Since it is a Wireless connection sometimes it has an issue. As muneem mentioned the Profile comes in as Blue and Me, Car audio. Atleast on E71 it shows a Car Icon as soon as it gets connected. Has worked well so far, no issues.

There are after market options available, I think ICE section would be the right place to look up the info.

I connect from the settings pairing from the Blue and Me in my car, then when i search and pair it with my phone it shows as paired and then asks weather to authorise the connection ( for this i say or no) it gets disconnected the next instance.
it gets connected to other nokia phones asking the same details except the Nokia E71, i have also updated the latest firmware on the phone

please help if you have connected Nokia E71.

Dhruv

Mine is a Nokia E66.

Since you have tried pairing with B&M a couple of times earlier, it would be better if you delete all user data first before proceeding with new connection.

- Press windows logo on the steering. After the lady finishes her sentence say Settings. Let her finish her sentence. Say User Data and ask B&M to delete all user data.

Once that's done get out of B&M by pressing the mute button. You will hear a beep. Switch off ignition.

- Turn ignition on now.

- Switch Bluetooth on and search for new devices.

- Press windows logo on the steering. Let the lady finish her sentence. Say Settings. Let her finish her sentence. Say pairing. Lady will say pairing in progress.

- Phone should display Blue&Me in paired devices tab. Click on it. Phone will ask you for PIN.

- Now you should see the PIN on the display screen and lady will also say it aloud. Punch the PIN on your phone and click OK. Lady will say pairing in progress and when it's connected, she will say connected.

- You should see a small car on your phone screen now.

- Lady will ask you if you want to download your phonebook. Say yes or no depending on what you want to do and you are ready to go.
