You said it! I find it amusing when hoardes of cars line up outside a petrol pump on the eve of a Rs. 2 / liter price hike.

Govt may cut petrol price by Rs 4 & diesel by Re one a litre

As per ET it might be just Rs. 4/litre for petrol and Rs. 1/litre for diesel.

I normally tank up - about 40 liters.
At a 3 Rs price cut that means about 120 Rs. saving.
which translates into almost 3 liters of extra fuel - about 40 KM extra ride.
If its 5-10 liters the difference really does not matter. When I used my bike a lot I wouldnt bother filling up in time with a price cut.raise, but with a car its a different story.
If there is an expected price cut around the corner I'd rather fill up 5-10 liters now and then tank up once the price cut is announced (especially as the timing is uncertain)

The Great Leader has finally spoken about the imminence of the price cut, and thus Manmohan Singh or the Govt. will now have to cut prices soon, perhaps this week. As for me, I get my car filled every Saturday/Sunday regardless of the distance traveled during the week.

I think government have to do one more price cut in 3 weeks time just before election is being declared if they cut Diesel price only by 1/-, most likely protest will start against government for reducing the prices less compared to sharp increase.

May be they are playing this trick by reducing less and see people's reaction.

Petrol deservered 9/- cut while Diesel around 4/- which would have made public/transporters happy.

The funny Indian governments play lot of tricks and fool the public :( Very unfortunate.

Ravi.

I hope they take this opportunity to link prices to the price of crude oil and make the whole thing transparent. That is the only way to make everyone happy, the public gets the benefit of lower prices, the oil companies do not suffer when the crude prices go up and the government is able to meet its revenue/budget targets.

We wish!

Not happening though. Too much corrupt money in Kerosene trade. And people will not be willing to pay as much (or more) for Diesel as Petrol. The truckies will go on another strike.
