Only way to mitigate future fuel price rise is to be self reliant by generating ones own solar electricity and use it in an EV

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Fuel prices hiked again in past two days, I was surprised to see diesel rates inching towards 100 mark in Bangalore. Well it's bound to happen any given day and keeping that in mind, it could be over 150 by the mid or end of next year.

Even though we are inching more closer towards making a shift to using cleaner energy in the vehicles, with the ongoing power-crisis I don't think so there will be any relief yet in the natural resource consumption, pollution etc. What's been damaged, it's damaged already :(

OK this is new!

Quote:
Fuel prices aren't high but include the tax levied. You must've taken a free vaccine, where will the money come from? You haven't paid the money, this is how it was collected
Quote:
Union minister of state for petroleum and natural gas Rameswar Teli on Saturday said that the price for the vaccines is being collected by levying taxes on diesel and petrol. He also said that the price of fuel is not that high when the taxes levied is factored in.
Quote:
“Our government has aimed to vaccinate 130 crore people of the country at free of cost. The price of each vaccine is around Rs 1,200 and each person will be vaccinated two doses,” Teli said.

“The cost of one litre petrol is Rs 40. The Centre and states have imposed taxes on petrol. Assam is the only state in the country which has imposed least VAT [value-added tax], and the state has imposed Rs 28 as VAT on petrol. Our ministry has imposed Rs 30 as tax,” he said.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Tanked up day before yesterday. My my, 107.xx in Bangalore(HP fuel station) for normal Petrol. Due to wfh fuelling up the car was not a regular fortnightly affair for almost 1.5 years but now with offices opening this would start pinching.

Wondering if this honourable gentleman has ingested some of the petroleum products he's speaking about! Such idiocy at the highest levels of government is appalling.

P.s. Basically, these guys can blame any and everything on COVID 19 now, easiest excuse!

How do they manage to get away with such blatant lies to the public.

It is well known that GOI is buying the vaccine at Rs.215 / dose (Covishield) & Rs.225 / dose for Covaxin, so at max it is Rs.450 per citizen. These are the increased prices as the first few batches were at lower rates of around Rs.150/dose. Source

The government has budgeted that free vaccination will cost them around Rs.50k crore while they have netted an additional Rs.1.8 Lakh crore from fuel taxes in the last FY alone!! Source1 & Source2

The aam aadmi on his Hero Splendor is paying Rs.130 extra per tank of fuel (10 litre tank and Rs.13 excise increase last year on a litre of petrol) and would have indirectly already more than paid for vaccinating his family over the past year and a half with such high fuel taxation.

GOI has a voracious appetite for taxes and so the prices will keep increasing, even if the OPEC off loads crude free of cost in the market, GOI will find an excuse to raise prices willingly...it needs to pay salaries of it's bloated babu-dom and the MP's and MLA's who generously pat themselves on their collective backs and give themselves hikes and perks...and we the tax payers will foot the bill: no questions asked...I remember during the Indo Pak wars there used to be a war time tax...now we're with war with Covid and this will go on and shall never be reduced and the public will generally get used to this level of inflation...

Daily price revision is not related to taxes. It’s related to profit/ income of oil companies. The oil companies recorded record profit in FY 2020-21.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Rest assured, any Indian govt. in power will tax fuel heavily. Taxing fuel is India's most reliable source of income generation. There are no tax evaders/defaulters when it comes to petroleum products. Plus the product is a drain on the exchequer.

Hate them for it but this is never going to change.

I know the statement will not go down, but the onus is on individuals to find solutions, maybe it's time to ride a Splendor instead of an RE or a hatchback instead of Safari/Scorpio.

Fuel prices and related taxes will continue to rise.

The previous govt didn't.

Yes, but the Central taxes have increased a lot over the years. What around 9 Rs per Litre in 2014 is around 33 Rs per Litre now.

And the majority owner of those companies who gets a big chunk of their profits is the Central Govt.
