That is because Karnataka Govt abolished the Entry tax which was about 3 Rs per litre back in July IIRC.

Essar & Reliance since they have their own refinery ? However, not sure how it will work out for them for places which are far from their refinery. Like, in Bangalore not sure from where Reliance is sourcing their fuel.

Shell anyways is sourcing from IOCL I guess, so it will be expensive.

Essar & Reliance are both into oil, isnt it ?

Shell is said to get it from Essar. As told to me by one bunk owner/manager. For us, the distribution is from Mangalore as base.

No carrots sir! All cuts have been re-balanced in form of other cess. Means no actual cut in prices of petrol despite reduction in excise duty:

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

What they giveth they taketh away . The education cess has been increased by 2% and excise reduced by 2%. No real change. For more details here is the actual file with increases and decreases if any.

On Another note CKD and CBU cars will have an increase of basic customs duty of 5%

That's the thing, why are people not outraged that the government continues to fund their excesses with tax payers money? The opposition has failed in it's role by not being able to effectively highlight these issues. I'm flabbergasted when a full tank of fuel costs so much more than it did a few years ago.

They did away with announcing hikes in prices by adopting dynamic pricing, so we don't get to read the big flashing front page news of fuel price hikes but the government silently chips away at our income every day by raising the prices.
