Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Now the entire lot ONGC, GoI and co are talking about deregulation of Diesel after 1st September. Also, they expect Brent to stay in the $100 region in medium to long term.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Sorry if going OT.

Fuel bunks in Maharashtra are going on indefinite strike from tomorrow i.e 26th August 2014 to protest against high VAT & LBT and non uniform LBT charges. So anyone yet to fill up their tanks, pls do so.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Today ONGC was also saying that Diesel subsidy will become zero come October 1. Also, there is a cabinet net being drafted for the deregulation.

Tanked up at Pondicherry yesterday. Petrol was 69.30 per litre, was feeling really happy ! And diesel at the same bunk was at 61.0X a litre. Petrol price on the same day at Chennai was 73.10 a litre.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Diesel at IOC at Jubilee Hills was Rs 63.65 a couple of weeks back. Not sure if it is the same today. Petrol is 76.84 now at Hyderabad, down from 80.41 last month and 79.22 early this month.

In Goa, diesel is marginally costlier than petrol.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

I wonder if there would be another reduction in Petrol prices come Aug-31st. I expect there to be none since the Brent prices & exchange rates have been pretty steady since Aug 15th.

As a citizen of Karnataka, it grinds my gears that we pay probably the highest in taxes on Petrol, yet have probably the WORST road conditions in the entire South India.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Some good thing came out of the proposed all Maharashtra bunk owner's strike. The LBT rates for fuels have been slashed by Thane Municipal corporation from 3.5% to 2% as evident from their website. This means that fuel prices in Thane will be reduced by a miniscule amount but still reduced. This tussle for LBT scrapping will have a final outcome I guess after the state elections only.

I still remember the time when the party in Central Govt today had two Bharat Bandhs due to fuel prices increases, now they continued the same policy.

LBT is clearly far better than regressive Octroi but the state opposition is playing negative politics.

+1 to that. It seems that the oppostion have promised LBT free state hence the strike being called off so sooner than it started.

The trouble is non uniformity of LBT rates across the state which is irksome. I guess that requires a seperate thread for discussion.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

The month-end is approaching & time for another fuel prices revision.

I feel that Petrol would remain unchanged (or lessened by only few paisa at the max). Diesel would probably see another 50ps increase. We'll see another 2-3 increases in Diesel prices & then the govt would announce Diesel Deregulation along with (a price cut to mollify the crowds)

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Was in Goa 2 weeks back,
Diesel prices Rs 63/L
Petrol prices Rs 60/L

I was shocked, went back to another pump to verify rates... same! I was bowled.

Thanks to the above, after a very long time the petrol prices have come down less than Rs 80. As of now the fuel prices in Thane are as below:
Petrol: 79.12/-
Diesel: 68.02/-

This was based on refuelling at the recently restarted IOC petrol pump near Tatvagyan Vidyapith on Ghodbunder Road.
