Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

@MaxTorque; They were short-changing Gujarat by not giving them any PNG. The SCI ruling changes this!

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Hello,

Read in newspapers that CNG prices may be fixed at Rs. 65 in Pune & somewhere between Rs. 55 to Rs. 58 in Mumbai. Also the PNG (Piped Natual Gas for residences) prices may increase upto Rs. 10 per unit.

I am not challenging the Supreme Court rulling, but I feel somewhere the common man is cheated here.

Firstly CNG was projected as cleanest & cheapest fuel. People started adopting new fuel (both residences & vehicles). Infact most of the city buses switched to CNG. Now we are facing almost 20% hike in CNG prices. Has anyone ever thought what will be impact on common man because of this? What about hike in bus transport charges (public transport, school buses, etc), what about Taxi / Auto drivers who have recently adopted CNG assuming it is cheapest fuel. What about middle class households who paid approx Rs. 6,500 for getting cheaper & convenient PNG line in their homes? The list goes on & on.

I understand low prices are not permanent & prices increase over a period of time. But such a drastic increase in essential fuel prices needs to be thought upon.

What do be expect now in future - rush towards Diesel vehicles only to witness de-regulation of Diesel prices sometime after elections next year?

Thanks,

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

A report in Times of India today says that diesel demand has dropped for the first time in a decade. It also mentions a drop in demand for diesel cars.

I agree to this, it will have a very harsh impact on the common man, very soon we will start witnessing strikes across the city.

Apart from the public transport there have been a steep growth in the number of personal vehicles getting converted into CNG the impact will be tremendous on such users, including me! CNG already had a downside of running only 110-150 KMs in full tank and over that a 20% price increase would be all the more worse.

I feel the recent drop in Diesel car sales is due to steady increase in Diesel Price & shift of commercial & passenger cars segment to CNG. For example in Mumbai all Tab Cab cars are running on CNG. Similarly a significant number of Meru Cabs are also on CNG.

But now with huge hike in prices of CNG expected the choice will once again shift to Diesel cars.

It seems it is a equal challenge to be a Car manufacturers in India. Untill couple of months back they were trying their best to increase Diesel cars offerings & suddenly Diesel prices started to increase. Then they offered factory fitted CNG vehicles & now we are expecting drastic increase in CNG prices.

Thanks,

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Petrol and diesel have become cheaper again internationally with the crude oil prices falling. When can we see this drop?

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Will diesel fuel end up costing more than petrol once its price is deregulated?
