Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

I saw on the box CNG in Delhi is up around Rs.3.70. Are they increasing prices in tranches - one fuel at a time. Whatever they do there will be an uproar whenever there is a significant increase in Diesel - transporters stir and what not.

I hope I see the day when fuel prices are dictated purely by the calorific content.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

With Brent down about 5% (reduced Syria risk) and the rupee up likewise, we may have escaped another petrol hike. Maybe we can even look forward to a cut! With Sonia heading back, now a Diesel hike should be on the cards.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Any updates on the proposed diesel price hike.

Last time around oil minister proposed hike of Rs. 4-5 at one go followed by weekly hikes to bring the prices in line. Just now read that he has ruled out any retail price hike for diesel.

His take on things keep changing every week, i do sympathise with him as well due to the volatile nature of the markets. But then again i doubt the long term vision and the technical capabilities of the people entrusted with decision making on these matters.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

I think the roll back would be marginal at best , ofcourse from an overall consumer point of view - outside of cars , its still not good news

"but an across-the-board hike — in diesel and kitchen fuel prices — appears inevitable. "

Also, Diesel to go up Rs.3-4, LPG by 25-50 and Kerosene by 2. Let us see.

Incidentally, we have been getting petrol with 5% Ethanol for the past fortnight or so. My consumption seems to be marginally up, but this could also be due to road construction work in our colony.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Petrol Prices might see a reduction in the coming week as the international crude prices fall. But the diesel and LPG hike is imminent and could see drastic increase in their respective prices.
Petrol Prices to Reduce by upto 1-1.50Rs

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Petrol prices reduced!

http://profit.ndtv.com/news/economy/...e-otherstories

Quote:
Oil marketing companies today lowered the price of petrol by Rs. 1.63 per litre, excluding VAT.

The revised prices will come into effect from midnight.

Petrol prices were last revised on August 31, when rates were raised by Rs. 2.35 per litre.

Oil firms review the price of petrol every two weeks. While the price of petrol has been deregulated since June 2010 and the price is market determined, the government still controls the price of diesel and allows only minor revisions.

Guess that was a wrong report from NDTV, now they have edited the same link and it mentions a hike of same amount.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

It's a failed economy, it's a failing country. That's the reason for petrol price hikes. Constant as clockwork every fortnight.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Haha this was hilarious. We all were listening to talks of petrol prices coming down which made sense looking at the market economics. My guess is they are going to increase the diesel prices by 2-3 Rs and hence further increasing petrol prices beforehand to create an atmosphere where the common man can be told that look we tried covering the losses by increasing petrol but this was inevitable. In the end the govt is happy. The price disparity will never come down as I have been saying all along. All they will do is increase prices of both fuels and hold it to the new level till the common man gets used to it and then increase it further.
