Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

International Brent oil prices are at around $108, and no signs of price cut, at least for Petrol? These oil companies should be banned from operating in India for manipulating the meaning of 'deregulation'!

Lets see if they implement what rediff is reporting:

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

TV channels are reporting a Re.1 cut due to drop in International prices (parity I guess). Then going to Export Parity from International Parity (80% Import + 20% Export) may add a further Rs.2-3 drop in Petrol prices.

At the same time, a 0.50/- increase in diesel price from tomorrow. Don't know if it is Kerala specific, in view of the state budget that is to be put on table soon.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

I saw they are claiming that International Petrol prices have dropped from $131 to $120. This is 8%+, and all levies except for Highway Cess are ad valoreum. The drop of Re.1 will not even be 2%. Also, all Dieselheads you will be paying 0.40-0.50 per litre extra every month till parity is reached!

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

NDTV says petrol prices to be cut by Rs. 2 from midnight today. After taxes it should be slightly more then that.

True. -2.52/- in fact, in Kerala. Is this the biggest cut in recent times? There was a mention of -3.5/- for the diesel given to KSRTC.

And no news of any diesel price hike too. Double occasion to cheer up for the automobile sector.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

As per rediff.com -

Highest Price paid for petrol in India is at Solapur, Maharashtra - Rs. 81.16 /lt
Lowest Price paid for petrol in India is in Goa - Rs. 56.43 /lt
In all other places in Maharashtra Price of petrol is more than Rs. 75 /lt.

What it also means is - Maharahstra government earns between Rs. 20-25 per litre of petrol sold in Maharashtra and sale of petrol in Maharahstra is highest in India.

Further - In Mahrashtra more than 50% of the price we pay for petrol goes to State and Union as taxes

If only they share some of it will oil companies, they will not be in loss.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

As per the annual budget presented by the CM today, the petrol is going to be cheaper by Rs 1.50 in Delhi. No VAT is being charged on the last increase of Rs 7.50.

So the petrol is going to be further cheaper than neighboring states i.e. HR and UP.

Cheers!

Assuming that the difference between Bangalore where it is also 75 and Maharashtra with Goa is 20 rupees then does it indicate it is towards shipping charges? How is the justification made?

Even though the pricing is nominally decontrolled (we all know how true?) it may be skipped due to political compulsions.
