Besides there are no choices of alloys, larger size tyres, moveable front seat headrests and a whole lot more shortcomings on the i10 as opposed to the International version.

Expect the same bias towards the Indian variant of the i20...

No, in the styling terms it isn’t a patch on those rivals, but Hyundai is boasting that the packaging (interior space) is better than the Fiesta's at least. It goes on sale on January 15 at prices promised to be at least £1,000 below the Ford and Vauxhall, with air conditioning and six airbags as standard.

Engines will be a choice of 75bhp 1.2-litre and 104bhp 1.4-litre petrol units, with a 1.4-litre diesel in 75bhp or 90bhp trim. Slightly more mouth-watering is the forthcoming 1.6-litre diesel, which offers CO2 emissions of 115g/km, but with 128bhp.

Fitted to the racier-looking three-door derivative of the i20, this could a perfect replacement for the much-lamented Skoda Fabia vRS, a diesel pocket-rocket that is still so sought after it commands very high secondhand prices.

finally hyundai is offering something visually attractive.to say so even the i10 is quite attractive.but the i20 looks to be a beter allround package.planning to upgrade next year and have added this car to my wishlist in addition to the grande punto.

Looks like 2009 is going to belong to the premium hatchbacks. Skoda Fabia, Hyundai i20, Fiat Grande Punto and Honda Jazz. All great looking cars with equally good engines. The 'Europisation' of India has started .

I absolutely love the looks, but the front bumber looks too complicated to repair, and given that minor skirmishes involving the bumpers are common in India, one might have to replace the entire bumper - which will in all probability cost a bomb!

I hope Hyundai launches this with a CRDi engine and all the goodies mentioned at less than Rs 700,000 on road. We are allowed to dream right?

Well the styling isnt as good as Ford and Corsa. I see these two cars everyday here (London) and I feel they are better looking than the i20. Hyundai's trump is going to be the price and interior space.

And the engine. I bet it will have Verna's VGT and hence Getz CRDi wasnt marketed much.

The engines in Corsa and Fiesta in Europe arent exactly pushovers either.
