Re: Speed 97 and High RON petrol discussion thread

Yea Shell V Power is no good! Definitely not worth the extra cash. Like you said, it’s only 91 with additives. XP95 on the other hand does get the car to perform better.

The best fuel in my past experience has been Reliance. Their diesel really made a big difference to my WRV. If Reliance comes out with a 95 Oct petrol, I am sure it will super duper!

Re: Speed 97 and High RON petrol discussion thread

Kodiaq recommends 95RON minimum it seems, apart from IOC XP95 which are the other 95RON petrol options ?

Re: Speed 97 and High RON petrol discussion thread

I am using XP95 mostly but since HP is COCO pump in my area, I added power 95 for the first time, I am going on a trip so want to fill up my 80% full tank to 100%. Can I add XP 95 or should I take detour & get power 95 only?

Targeting owners of SUVs and high-end bikes, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) has launched the Power95, a petrol product that has higher Octane number than its Power variant that has an Octane of 93 and regular petrol, which has an Octane of 91.

Does anyone know which HP petrol pump in Chennai has this Power 95 available? I tried multiple HP pumps last week and none of them are even aware about it. I asked HPCL in Twitter and got no response. I even checked their website and there is no mention of Power 95 as product itself.

Here in NCR, its written Power only but they are only providing power 95, not the previous Power ( which was 93 octane ). All pumps have put some banners as well for power 95 but on the machine, its written just power, so check if that's the case which is causing confusion.

Firstly, check the respective websites or apps for the "pump locator" option. Secondly, most COCOs proudly display the same on their billboards.

This is very useful! Thanks! Any idea how much it costs per liter?

I just filled my tank with XP95 a day ago. So in any case, I will pay one of these a visit in a week or 2.

Re: Speed 97 and High RON petrol discussion thread

It’s about a rupee cheaper. XP 95 is about 113.xx in Bombay, and this is about 112.75 or so. Nothing much in it.

That makes sense, pricing it slightly lower than XP95 since there is no other viable alternative for a RON95 at that price point.

What I am looking forward to is the quality of the petrol. IOCL generally has a bad reputation for adulteration and HPCL seems to be better on that front. Of course, it is all anecdotes and reviews, but I have come to experience the IOCL's bad quality first hand.

My 2 cents on this (your mileage might vary given the quality of your local pump).

I tanked up with Power 95, and felt a little more hesitancy than I generally have with XP95. I don’t know how much of that is a placebo. But I’ll fill a few more tankfuls, only then will a true picture emerge.

I stay away from IOCL for the same reason. My Kushaq is running with 91 RON from BP COCO or HP till date. This information came late and I already filled the tank with regular HP petrol. I went pump to pump asking about Power95 and no one has any clue. Next time I will try that Ambattur pump listed and will update the price and performance.
