Re: Speed 97 and high RON petrol discussion thread

Has anyone used HP poWer99 recently? In the below ACI video, the M8 is filled up with poWer99 at Rs.118 in Jaipur. I checked the petrol prices there and currently the standard petrol costs 108. Is the poWer99 now 'just' Rs.10 over the standard fuel everywhere?

This video was shot sometime last year hence prices are wrong. Not sure why ACI released it a year later.

As @Sahil pointed out, the video is quite old. power99 is Rs.158+ in Jaipur AFAIK.

IOCL | XP95 and Xtra Premium

Are XP95 and Xtra premium the same ?

Machine has XP95 branding all over it but pricing is not INR 1 more than normal like most are claiming in this thread and receipt is of Xtra premium. Has Xtra premium been rebranded as XP95 or is the dealer cheating people by placing XP95 branding on a Xtra premium outlet ?

From what I understood from talking to the fuel pump attendant, slowly xtra premium at all fuel pumps would be upgraded to xp95 - BTW, xp from xp95 still stands for xtra premium.

Indian Oil pumps have not had great reputation in the past, hope they dispense actual xp95 fuel from xp95 nozzles. For now, I can feel smoother engine and virtually no knocking in the engine (can be easily heard on inclines) if I compare it to previous refuelling at Shell which tells me that at least for now the pump I go to is really dispensing 95 octane.

I am keeping a keen eye on this thread to understand experience others are having at Indian Oil while using xp95.

Re: Speed 97 and high RON petrol discussion thread

From what I understand XP95 is 95RON petrol and Xtrapremium is being phased out and replaced with XP95. The premium charged is ~3₹ if I reckon.

About its percieved benefits, I am unsure.

However, in my Polo GT(1.2), 95RON is the required and paying the extra 3₹ makes sense for me.

They aren't the same. XP95 has replaced the Xtra Premium. XP95 is higher octane fuel while the older one had only injector cleaning additives.

Most of the bunks are yet to rebrand Xtra Premium as XP95, while IOC app says they sell XP95.

I found few bunks selling both XP95 and XP. May be old stock of XP ?

Re: Speed 97 and high RON petrol discussion thread

To add to @corvus corax - In my experience IOCL has an App - That I believe they update everyday. So this particular APP has XtraPremium and XP95 listed on it. So there is always a difference a couple of Paise's between the prices - So just to be extra cautious check the cost of the petrol they charge you per litre.

Pune has some extra-shady IOCL pumps dispensing XP95's. So its always good to be cautious. In some cases, I literally had to explain to the attendants that they have an XP95 branded petrol by pointing at the advertisement board in their own petrol pump

Anyhow:
Couple of IOCL Pumps that Serve XP95 in Pune.
1) Uday Fuel Services on The Mumbai - Pune - Bangalore NH48 at Tathawade. Brand new Pump - The Non Shadiest in the List
2) Shri Krishna Petroleum, Ravet. Their XP 95 pump is with the bike petrol lane in the extreme end. Looks shady but have got Good experience.
3) IOCL pump at Pimple Saudagar
4) Sai Samartha IOCL Bunk, Sangvi

Not sure about the bunks which you are mentioning but I was discussing with the owner of an IOC pump here in Puttur. He mentioned that pumps that had a single dispenser that was dispensing Xtra Premium are being asked to rebrand themselves to XP95 with new branding stickers in pink color from the company once they deplete the stock of XP. The new load coming from refineries is apparently XP95 and no more Xtra Premium ones.

Even though the IOC app or web mentions the availability of XP95, at least in Puttur I have seen they were only stocking it since last week and not like a month ago as per the app. So whoever is on the lookout for XP95, make sure you see a pink coloured XP95 branded dispenser. Since my Kushaq is on a strict diet limited to 95RON or higher ones, IOC`s push to XP95 even in cities like Puttur has been a blessing in disguise.

Re: Speed 97 and high RON petrol discussion thread

I have a very different question. The XP 95 Petrol is 100% Petrol or with 10% ethanol?

Same goes with the Xtra Premium / Speed / Power, are these without the 10% ethanol? Can anyone advise?

Irrespective of the kind of petrols which are sold here in India are not 100% petrol, all have 8.5% ethanol. Apparently, Govt has announced that there will be a gradual rollout of ethanol-blended fuel to achieve E10 fuel supply by April 2022 and a phased rollout of E20 from April 2023 to April 2025.

This was pretty much my understanding as well. But, a week ago I was filling fuel from an HP COCO pump at Cochin, and a fellow gentleman was asking me for feedback about the pump at that time. He mentioned that he's working for HP and they are having an inspection at that petrol pump. When I told him that I used to work for BPCL in the past, he seems interested and initiated a conversation for some time. During the conversation, he did indicate that they all fill up only Power petrol these days as it will have more petrol than the regular version which have around 10% Ethanol. At that point, I didn't think of it much but later I got confused. Searched online but I cannot any real proofs to validate his claim. Anyone can shed some light on it?

Re: Speed 97 and high RON petrol discussion thread

I drive a r15v3, the bike comes with a somewhat high 11.6:1 compression ratio but Yamaha has claimed it to run fine with normal petrol and that is what i have been running with zero issues whatsoever.

Will i however gain anything at all with switching to XP95? Especially since to the best of my knowledge the bike does not come with a knock sensor and hence the ECU has no way to detect any knock and retard timing/increase fuel flow automatically, conversely i guess it won't be able to detect a higher octane fuel and make adjustments accordingly to extract more power and should continue to run on the Indian fuel map yamaha must have programmed in.

Can someone with knowledge on this confirm?

Re: Speed 97 and high RON petrol discussion thread

I think xp95 is gone! There is no more of it in Bangalore! Normal fuel now is around 108.xx ish, which was 104.xx before and the xp95 that was 109.xx is no more available!
The pumps have been rebranded as xp100 and that is close to 160/-

Bad move from an enthusiast's perspective, I was so happy filling it in my bike and car!
