re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

New Shell outlet opening on ORR, just opposite to Genpact Building at Bellandur. Super happy as I was rooting for this since long.

Yeah right even I am waiting for it. Right now either I have to travel towards Whitefield on Varthur road or towards ITPL both of which are cumbersome. I will be super happy when the new outlet on ORR opens

The Shell pump at Seegehalli is temporarily closed. From the looks of the front office building, there is sign of a small fire or violence. I could find glass bits and burn marks on the walls. I am a regular at this gas station.

My friend told me yesterday that there was a major fire in the office building on Saturday

BSIII 77.10-->77.55 INR

Cheers!

re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

Again had problems filling Air at Shell, now two weeks in a row

Last Sunday, filled at Shell Bannerghatta and there was noone at the air counter. They said 'machine problem'. Ok not the first time it has happened, but I shrugged it off.

Yesterday filled at Shell Magadi Road. Same reply, Machine not working. I mean, this is too much, I filled at the IOC near my house, but I know their machine is not properly calibrated. Hint: Once I filled there, then 10 days later at Shell, the air pressures on four tyres before filling was 31, 30, 34 and 35 PSI! And no, there was no puncture or leakage, I got that checked the next day.

I hope this is not a growing trend of Air being unavailable at Shell.

Also, at Magadi road, they initially said the Regular Petrol was unavailable, and that I should fill Super Unleaded. I told them I would rather go to the Shell pump near Hebbal, and started my engine. Lo and Behold, Regular Petrol is suddenly available.

re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

Shell price for petrol in Pune is 81.45 (as of last week). Very good fuel.
Is the premium version (at Rs. 91) worth it?

Posted same info on Hyderabad's trusted petrol pump thread too. Mods may kindly delete if it is violating any policy.

Shell petrol pump too found installing fraudulent machines-

No Sunil. I used to religiously fill in premium fuel imagining it aids FE but over time realized there are no significant benefits to justify the steep premium. I understand it is not a higher RON but just has some additives that claim to make it more efficient.

Frankly fuel from a trusted PSU pump (typically COCO) is not that different from Shell's and I don't go out of my way to fill at Shell anymore. But their service quality is still unmatched in my opinion!

re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

@ Ahmedabad, typically Shell normal petrol retails at around 20p less than PSUs, or nearest rounded down whole number for the last year or so.

Shell @ Rs. 76.00 for normal petrol. HP - Rs. 76.21

But, on comparing average between 2 Shell pumps (Ambli and Thaltej) and HP COCO @ Bodakdev, HP comes up trumps consistently. Shell was the choice until I observed the figures from HP, and for more than a year now I have skipped the latter only 4 or 5 times.

Disclaimer: HP works better for me as it is on the way home from Sunday shopping trip. 1 full tank on EON lasts the whole week - above 600 km of travel. Shell would mean filling up on Monday mornings and longer travel time to work.

re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

Noticed something awesome....for the first time!

My Polo petrol normally gives about 10 to 11 kmpl in town. Filled Shell Premium petrol and from my rough estimate (haven't refilled yet) my mileage is approx 14 kmpl!!

There is a significant increase in the fuel efficiency - may have to rethink my diesel car purchase decision.

So happy about this discovery!!
