Aah great work Karlos, after all my memory isn't fading lol:
Superb find, karlosdeville !!!
I remember filling up petrol in my Dad's Lambretta for Rs 1.47 per litre when I learnt driving in 1971 / 72. At that time, my uncle got a new job with a very decent pay of Rs 300 per month!!
I remember filling up petrol in my cousin's Chetak for Rs 9 per litre. If I remember correctly, Diesel used to cost around Rs. 5 those days! :Shockked:

i don't believe that. 87-88, petrol was around 20-25 per litre, ok probably around 18 per litre not lesser |
1987 was when I got my first car - a NEW model Maruti 800. The petrol was around Rs.10/- per litre, definately NOT Rs.20/- or Rs.25/-
The cheapest fuel I can remember is about Re.1/- + some change, when my father bought a new Black Ambassador in 1968-69.
Cheers
Thats right. Circa '87-'88 the price of petrol was Rs. 9/10 per litre. Remember filling up Rs. 5 worth of petrol many times in my friends' BSA falcon "phut-phutti".
In the late '80s, IIRC petrol was Rs.8 and diesel was Rs. 5.xx. I distinctly remember my dad regularly complaining about the high pricesclap:.
Couple of weeks back, my dad nearly fainted when I was filling up my car with Speed 97 @ Rs. 65/litlol:
Diesel at 8 Rs and 10 Rs was the least, I remember my father used to fill our still running 85 HH CD100 and (our sold 10 yrs ago) Amby trekker diesel!!!
in '95 i used to give a 100 rupee note to get my kinetic pride's tank full.. and still get 20 rupees back!
btw.. the pride's tank was of 4 litres.
And the funny part is, even then we used to squeeze the maximum out of those four litres!
Sometime in the 90s I used to fill my dad's scooter with 20 bucks of fuel.. and I used to get something like 1 ltr+. Nowadays I get the same amount, albeit with a 50 buck note!
I remember around Rs. 6.40 per liter I filled in my fathers Vespa 150 in 1984-85. Normally we also filled for Rs. 20 at a time.
I remember my Dad paying Rs. 19/20 per liter for his Jawa in early 90s i guess.
Well the lowest I paid was during my engg days when I got my Victor, It was around Rs. 33 per liter. Used to get a little more than 3 liters for Rs. 100
i remember, i used to pay 10rs for half a litter petrol with single oil :D thats when i used to ride my uncle's Luna TFR or Bajaj Cup (year between 1992-1994)
When I started driving, petrol WAS 1.05 per litre in 1972.!! AND, in 1974, Gulf Crisis, it shot up to 1.75 per litre, And, I was Asked by my Dad, to stop using the car except for going to work!
Rs 7 in 1987.I remember, this was the price of a mug of draught beer in bangalore's pubs & the prices more or less increased simultaneously for about 8 yrs cheers:
