That may be 4.16 pm GMT as i did not see that edit when i first visited that page earlier today.

Sites like Wikipedia can't be trusted, as anyone can add/edit information as per their whims & fancies!

Let us now hear from the horses mouth i.e. FIAT Spa, Italy

Source: Fiat / News / Models

Quote:

The 1.3 Multijet 16v - the first engine created by Fiat-GM Powertrain (a joint-venture established by Fiat Auto and General Motors) - is a revolutionary power unit, the smallest “Common Rail” 4-cylinder diesel, featuring highly sophisticated technology in a cylinder block just under 50 cm long and 65 cm high, weighing but 130 kg.
Miniaturisation makes it suitable to power extremely compact models and city cars and endow them with all the advantages of “Common Rail” turbodiesels: improved performance-consumption ratio, excellent performance, longer service life, greatly reduced impact on the environment. The 1.9 Multijet delivering 100 HP is an engine with a sporty mindset and revolutionary capabilities in terms of power output, performance and muted running, plus all the benefits associated with the 1.3 Multijet 16v.
Multijet engines can be rated as yet another major attainment by Fiat in the field of diesel engines.

Sorry for going OT:
The current Indica or the new Indica X1? Will the current Indica be offered with the 1.3? If so, that would be an awesome deal!

Yes!

Btw, does any one have an idea who developed the 1.3 Multijet CNG engine?

Having friends in the right places = INFLUENTIAL. No need to be modest, dear Fibroid.

No matter who made that engine, its Maruti that is laughing all the way to the bank.

lol: .. I dont think this chap has read Yeti's guide on "How To Post In Proper English" . Hmmm.. Time to do some forensic investigation of the posts in this thread and find out who the culprit is.

this is turning out to be interesting, crazy you have made the conclusion in post no 46.it has been an usual state of affairs regarding the engines-tud5 is an example.maruti was having a good time with them.
in future-gm and tata would come up with the same engine.
OT-who did this to wiki.

Ram, thanks for the info.

About the diesel engine, is it confirmed that it will be in the same state of tune as the swifts DDIS? I believe there is also a higher spec version that might be made available on the Linea/Grande Punto (90 PS i think).

Do you have any idea if this is going to make it onto the Swift Dzire?

I have been through your other thread Ram, what I am asking is whether the DDIS engine on the swift Dzire will have the same specs as the one on the hatch. Or will it have a different ECU etc like the 1.3 MJD expected on the Fiat Linea/ GP?

it will be in the same state of tune, they dint mention any specific changes as of now.maybe a higher spec ddis would be required if they plan one for the sx4.else the old ddis would be more than enough.you can expect a more controled power delivery in the dzire due to the 30 kgs addiion.

The higher power of 1.3 Linea is attributable to its variable geometry turbo, not to its ECU.

Incidentally, the diesel Palio, Petra and Adventure all had the same 1.9 engine without any differences in specs. Only the gear ratios were kept different to address the differences in weights.
