Re: India's largest selling SUV: Mahindra Bolero (Pic-Pg 36. Launch - Pg 41)

The thing is that crude in body parts fitment, vibrations, poor front seats, all this does not bother Mahindra because there is absolutely no competition in this segment, Bolero is selling in a monopolistic segment, competition to lower models is from its own Mahindra Marshal and the top end VLX borders on lower model Scorpio prices.

What we need to know is as to whether a 4WD version is planned in lower end or higher end models ?

SLX was 6.25 to 6.5 in most cities, Ex-Showroom + Tax and Insurance.

That's a good thing for us current DI owners. It means our resale value will hold even better whenever we decide to sell our Boleros off.
Ha, Ha, Ha, exactly. If there is no bump in power with the CRdi, the DI scores with thumbing majority on almost all counts. From aesthetic point of view, the designers at Mahindra should be kicked in the *** for "designing" that crappy facia.

M&M could have done much better.
It means they can sell it in BS4 cities and that is quite a huge market considering the target group of the SLX and ZLX variants.

You're right about the pricing of the SLX, but i did a little search( I happened to have Bolero pricing from May).

I just want to clarify that I don't have an issue with 6k being mentioned here by us BHPians. It was an announcement made by the company(I gather from the posts), which in my opinion is a wrong statement. If there was a further price hike after MAY which I don't know about, then my apologies.

Mahindra is making money but not providing at least ABS ( forget Airbags)
for 4170 L x 1977Height bread box is very dangerous as the increased torque will urge the driver to avail and drive fast and that require adequate handling / braking.

Poor attempt with greedy pricing for this vintage vehicle.

i had i hopes from M&M to bring out a better equiped Bolero with safety features. but alas!

no competition for bolero makes it a vintage product with small cosmetic changes and nothing else to talk about it.

the only good thing about bolero is the shape and its go anywhere attitude. i will try to post a photo of an accident which involved bolero....it shows the poor build quality of bolero.

Re: India's largest selling SUV: Mahindra Bolero (Pic-Pg 36. Launch - Pg 41)

Why did they not plonk in the 75 hp MDI CRDi engine(2489cc)?

Better power and better torque than the Common railed DI(2523cc).

Headers, the brochure of the latest bolero says 2523cc. This is M2DI CR.

2489cc is called as MDI CRDe.

The second unit sounded like a muted maxximo truck. Yet to get the performance report of the 2523cc unit.

+1 to that.

The 2523CC Engine is nothing but the old DI Turbo engine which was named MDI3200TC. This engine has now got a Common Rail Injection system and is now called MDI CRDE.

Scorpio EX whereas has the M2DI CRDE which is nothing but the 2498 cc engine detuned for application.

Cheers

Re: India's largest selling SUV: Mahindra Bolero (Pic-Pg 36. Launch - Pg 41)

The 2498 cc Common Rail is derived from the old Peugot XD3P engine, which first did the duty in the Armada Grand and then in the Bolero when it was launched.

The 2523 cc unit is derived from the Mahindra DI engine.

Yes, the 2523 DI was called MDI 3200 with a suffix depending upon the type of fuel injection pump used.

The M-Eagle engine, as it is, is derived from the 2498 cc unit.

Re: India's largest selling SUV: Mahindra Bolero (Pic-Pg 36. Launch - Pg 41)

Speaking of the Armada, do you think that Mahindra designs are getting worse as each generations pass? The original Armada was a looker, but its successor Armada Grand was rather ugly. The original Bolero was also a good looking vehicle, which has degenerated in the looks departments through its two major facelifts. Similarly, type 1 Scorpio was real good, type 2 was ugly, and the present one is straight out of "The Flying Dutchman", a real Davy Jones' ride.

MDI is a very noisy engine like tractor whereas the XD3P is not. Does that means that the MDI CRDE also going to be noisy?
