Today Morning I took care of one of the few niggles in the car, the worn water Pump belt. Got the A/C checked, it works absolutely fine Just the Belt was missing. need to top up the refrigerant. But R12 is difficult to fing nowadays. Got a quote for 1500 Rs just for a Top Up. Belt cost only 60 Rs.

Thanks to all!

R12 is bad for the environment as it punches holes in the ozone layer.Instead you could get the existing gas replaced by putting 104
refrigerent init. All you got to do for this is get the existing gas released and then vacume the entire system and then gas charge it with 104.we have done this to many cars and the A/c is cooling better infact.

Almost entire car retains the original NewZealand brown paint.
Need One Stanley Sealed beam to complete the restoration to its original condition.
Pristine condition. The best part of the car is the paint, it's just fantastic. I am truly jealous of your aquisition.
Such a preserved beauty should be treated with respect, please take care of her.

Thanks, I havent faced any issues so far. I dont plan to use it as a daily runner. The only thing that stops me from doing that is my affection for it and also being 6'1" and bulky and it is not exactly a breeze to get in/out. My SX4 does that job for me rather well.

@JAI3033: Tires need to be changed to radial ones I have started saving for it.

I will surely check the availablility of 104 with the local A/C mechanic.

More over he has recomended dismantling the compressor and lubricating it just to ensure the parts dont get damanged because it wasnt being used in a long time. Any comments??

on one of my interactions with someone in coimbatore he had mentioned about the brake booster from kbx which had been fitted for a ss80. But i feel may be its not just a booster, but also broader/bigger tyres which can make improvement. Has anyone been driving on anything bigger than the 12" ones and what size for the breadth

yes indeed. .. my cousine brother has a car which is fitted with a 13" and a very high profile tyre on it... he lives in bangalore but the car right now is in the home town.. may be i can post some pictures for its curiosity .. its a pleasure to drive with a bigger and broader wheels.. The one with a original tyre size is my car and the other one is my brother's car... what do you say.. .does that look oversized ?
