Tata Motors files a record number of patents in FY2025

Tata Motors has revealed that it filed 250 patents and 148 design applications in FY2025 – the highest ever in a single year.

The patents filed by the company range from products to processes related to connectivity, electrification, sustainability, and safety. Tata also filed patents for hydrogen-based vehicles and fuel cells as well as various vehicle systems, including battery, powertrain, body and trim, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and emission control.

Tata Motors also filed 81 copyright applications and secured 68 patent grants during the year, bringing its total granted patents to 918.

Innovative at it's peak!! Tata Motors is on a roll!
Record no of patents does signify that there are quite high research and development works going on. Hope they help the company roll out great products help propel the company to new heights. Apart from this there are quite a number of innovations rolling out from it sister companies like Tata Elxis, Tata Autocomp systems, Tata Technologies, etc. They are building a whole ecosystem around automobiles.

Mahindra too had announced significant number of patents last year if I remember. Quite good for development of indigenous automotive technologies.
