Re: Mahindra Thar, XUV700 facelifts arriving in 2026

I wonder if the W609 mentioned in the article could be the XUV.e8 (or XEV 8e, maybe) that has long been rumoured.

In other news, Mahindra have also told Australian media outlets that the Scorpio-N will have an update with ADAS in 2025 because Australia has now stopped homologating cars without AEB.

Xuv3XO EV is almost ready for launch. Multiple test mules were spotted. It's next launch from Mahindra pretty soon.
XEV7.e will be the EV version of Xuv700!
That might be launching on August 15 this year. Fingers crossed!

Interesting, are you saying you've never experienced the suspension noise in your XUV700? I've tried 3 different XUV700s so far and all of them has same suspension issues. May I know your exact model and make year?

Also, the Australian scorpio has captain seats in the middle and they also have some regualtion for child anchor points.

In the next scorpio upgrade for India, for sure, the 6 Airbag variant would have to be made standard across the range. It is still only available in the higher trims and lower trims still have the only 2 airbags.

Re: Mahindra Thar, XUV700 facelifts arriving in 2026

No wonder so many limited editions for the XUV700 these days. Even Mahindra & Mahindra themselves realised that it is outdated.

One thing for sure is that the XUV700, ignoring its potential reliability, is the most mechanically solid car in its segment. Here are things that I think would make it 'perfect' with simply a facelift:

#1 2.0 mStallion with AWD ( Both MT and AT)-This is also why I lost interest in Thar Roxx. Diesel is not the way to go.
#2 Digital Rear View Mirror: When the competition sells Auto-Dimming IRVM, why not a step further?
#3 Powered Tailgate: Trust me, it is really useful.
#4 19 inch Alloy Wheels: Smart car needs smarts looks, right?
#5 Matte grey finish option: A Kia looks so badass with this, how not this machine. Ignore that Blaze editions.
#6 AX5 5-seater variant with all the above plus 7 Airbags, no sunroof, black interiors, and Wireless charger: No words needed to explain this hypothetical value for money package.

I agree with @ramki and I hope Mahindra also does something for suspension in next update. In fact, this will be my first ask as this reduces the experience of very capable vehicle.

Also, @himansu is correct with his experience.
If roads are good, there is no denying that 700's suspension behaves as expected for monocoque chassis and on highway, its very stable. There is no denying that NCR regions road infra in better shape than Bangalore so that also adds up.

700s suspension issue is experienced when we have potholes on roads(not uneven road but a sudden gap/pit/hole) and in Bangalore we have plenty.

I have test driven Thar 3D, drive ScorpioN to office and sometimes I ride shotgun in my colleague's 700 to the office so my 2 cents. Experience is very fresh as I just came back from Office riding 700

I have got used to busy ride ( and its a problem for sure but also nature of such vehicle) of ScorpioN and its same for Thar but there is no sound of suspension when wheel hit potholes, only side ways motion if speed is slow( if driven fast, you won't even notice )

In 700, its different, at slow and city speed, every potholes delivers both a physical jolt and an auditory thud and if there many potholes, it gets irritating and not that good experience of being inside of 700.

Difference I find is that ScorpioN(and also Thar) do not sends shocks to bone or ear but motion as full experience but 700, I felt the jolt and sound but not much movement of body.

Other thing I noticed is engine sound, Its same engine(diesel), same gearbox but I felt 700 engine more audible than my SN . May be because of change in distance between engine and passenger in both vehicle, horizontally and vertically both.

Perhaps experiences on Bangalore roads are quite 180
Degrees of what we have here at Delhi-NCR ,a few might get the drift from rear wheels .

But this brings another dimension or argument that BOF And suspension setup thereof absorbs shock better than monocoque on potholed road.

Personally owning all the three cars ,Scorpio 2014-2019,Thar 2024-Present and XUV700 AX7L Petrol AT- 2023-Present, the XUV ride quality always appeared as more pliant.Unfortunately I never had the time and energy to test the vehicles except my own.

The BOF tall boys were always too busy and vertical movements were nauseating.

But as I said earlier ,To each its own !
Keeping Ownership Pride and Laws of Physics aside ,Happy Motoring
