NOTES:

1: Thanks to the team at Auto Punditz for sharing these sales numbers with us!

2: Only cars that sell 500+ units (and thus, the relevant ones) have been included in the gainers & losers chart.

3. These manufacturer-reported sales numbers are factory dispatches to dealerships. They are NOT retail sales figures to end customers.

Skoda selling more than Honda and MG
The Kylaq effect is real, hopefully these numbers sustain continually.

Barring the Creta and Venue Hyundai is not doing great with other models. This is definitely concerning and they should look into it.

Yes, Citroen has dated interiors. Yes, Citroen cars lack some modern features, but still, they deserve better than these figures.
Basalt selling odd 100 units is very sad to see.
At least C3 aircross / Basalt deserved to sell on Kiger Level i.e. 700 units each per month.

Re: March 2025 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

The combined sales of the Ertiga, XL6 & Rumion are around 21,702, while the combined sales of the Baleno, Glanza, Fronx & Taisor are around 32,995 which is insane!

It seems they failed to understand Indian Market well. They cut aggresively on feature to keep cost below its segment. Today Indian customer demand adequate feature at a reasonable (not cheap) price.

IMHO, they would have easily captured good numbers had they added few more features at an extra cost of close to 1 lakh. I felt, the car is great but features are stuck half a generation behind.

5900 odd numbers for the Exter, 5000 odd for the Aura, almost 5000 for the Grand i10, and 4000 for i20 are decent numbers according to me.

Re: March 2025 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Tata should become more serious about the Altroz, time and again I have been of this opinion. They have heavily ignored it to favour other models in their kitty.

The i20 and baleno sales numbers prove there's a decent scope for putting on another 2000-3000 units from Tata in the premium hatch segment if they are able to provide really good update to the product and market it well; and plonking in the racer engine as standard or option but without the 'racer' blingy which was a big failed attempt.

Altroz this month fell behind even the rebadged glanza, despite being well kitted, and way ahead in safety+equipment game, ride and handling. Only let down by poor product/variant management + sub-par engines. i20 also provides similar power figures, but for the time being their offering is 4 cyl and way ahead in terms of refinement (premium hatch afterall).

Even the Tiago which sort of got Tata back in the game and broke the streak of failed launches is becoming too long in the tooth and deserves a generation change.

Kushaq seems to be suffering after Kylaq launch.

Funny to see the name Maruti classified as Japanese. It was a brilliant stroke by Suzuki retaining the "Maruti" part of their name.

I agree with you that Tata has ignored Altroz; however, as per the sources, Altroz facelift is coming in this year itself with some added goodies.
