According to Spinny’s recently released Q1 2025 financial report,

- EcoSport, Nexon and Venue drove a 20 percent surge in used compact SUV sales in Q1 2025.
- Jeep Compass was the most popular pre-owned luxury car.
- Sales of pre-owned MT:AT cars were in the ratio 71:29.

In Q1 2025, the Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Renault Kwid were the highest-selling pre-owned cars on Spinny.

Coming to pre-owned luxury cars sold through Spinny, the Jeep Compass emerged on top, followed by the X1 and GLA.

I am not surprised!
In the last week of February, I went to the used car mela organised by Maruti Suzuki True value opp Trump tower in Pune. I saw a Ford Ecosport Titanium AT in the evening and by the time I reached out to the dealer next day afternoon, he mentioned the vehicle is sold.

On our forum as well, I know of 3 members including me who have got a pre-owned Ecosport recently and 2 of them are from Spinny.

Makes perfect sense.

There are very few compact SUVs out there which can match the superb combination that an Ecosport offered and still offers to its owners: solid performance, good fuel economy (especially on the TDCI motor), solid build quality, handsome butch looks with clean proportionate lines - none of the weird Koreanish designs, plus all requisite and useful creature comforts on board. Ecosports have always commanded good demand in the second hand market and for very good reasons.

Dont think people buying the Compass have any idea of the kind maintenance the car asks. I see very low price pieces on the market, but I know that Compass is as expensive to maintain as a 75 lakh German car!!

Where are you getting this opinion from? I have a 2022 petrol compass and my uncle has a 2023 BMW X1. The maintenance costs are not even in the same realm. Just because it's not as cheap as a hyundai or a maruti people get these wild ideas about its maintenance costs.

Noob question alert - Is it right to put Compass in 'luxury' segment ? I feel it should be placed in the same segment as XUV700, Harrier, Safari, Tuscon. But definitely not alongside the X1/GLA.

Trying to think the other way round - why have so many people sold their EcoSports that it's the leading car in pre-owned market? After all, it's a supply demand game. Would be interesting to look at data like, age of the car, odo, condition and most importantly pricing.

Fully agreed. Compass maintainance cost is very high.
I have Compass, Creta and Mercedes CLA.
Compass parts replacement cost are 80% of Mercedes Parts costs. ( Eg if mercedes parts is of 10k than Jeep compass parts cost is 8k).
And on top of that Compass is not reliable to Mercedes level. So overall it need more part changes so maintainance goes even higher than Mercedes.
And simply there is no comparison of Jeep compass maintainance with XUV 700 ,harrier or Creta ( these are 3x more cheaper to maintain than Compass)

1. Your compass is just 3 years old, once it is 5 years old than parts starts to go bad in it and it will need part replacement.
For now you are just focusing on regular 15k service cost which is Rs 15000 in compass and 30,000 in Bmw.

2. Main thing is part replacement cost
( 1 lakh price is for Alternator)
( 1 injector cost is 20k which service center replace only 4 so 80k )
(80k for Clutch + flywheel)
( 6k for wiper blades)
Just to give rough idea and so on.
These prices almost touch big 3 Germans and cherry on top is Jeep as a brand isn't as reliable as Bmw or Mercedes.

3. For Mercedes or Bmw there are many brands who make good aftermarket parts so if someone wants to reduce maintenance they can buy them but for Jeep aftermarket parts are not available in India.

4. Experienced this myself, Jeep only wants to support its Dealer's which are on ventilator so deliberately they supply the parts to FNG's very late, almost in 1 month ( which can arrive to service center in 3 days) so that customer change parts at ASS only.
Approx 4 5 FNG's in Surat told me Jeep does this deliberately, so they told me I have to take my Car to ASS only otherwise I will have to wait 1 month.

Compass size is small still it's price is more for top varients and comparable to Harrier/ XUV 700 in middle varients That's why it is here called as Luxury, but I somewhat disagree with this it should be between luxury class and economy class.

Who replaces wipers at the service center? Also the costs for the fuel injector, clutch and flywheel are similar to what we paid for a Renault duster AWD. As for the alternator, a replacement for a tucson costs roughly 1.2lacs. This is all expensive, but let's not pretend they're charging rates others aren't asking for.

I do read it. I also personally know friends, relatives and colleagues who own the compass, Meridian as well as German, Japanese and Swedish luxury cars so I have more than a fair idea about costs.

Then I asked another dealer and he was quoting 3.50 Lakhs. These prices are mouth watering.

One of the reasons why brand JEEP (read Compass) commands low price in secondhand market is it’s extremely bad after sales. In Pune, despite being manufactured in this city, its sales and after sales are horrible for over a decade now due to pathetic dealership and service center of “Sky Moto”.
