re: Toyota Hyryder and Grand Vitara now get AWD with AT on Mild hybrid and 6 airbags as standard

Most important of all, have they changed the sunroof cover?
It was just a net! They should change it first!

re: Toyota Hyryder and Grand Vitara now get AWD with AT on Mild hybrid and 6 airbags as standard

Good to see Toyota & Msil listening to what the consumers want.

Now, let me nitpick a bit.

Firstly, I hope they have not kept the same gear ratio that they provide in their 2WD, 6-speed AT. At least a shorter 1st gear will be most welcome.

Secondly, not everyone is willing to pay Rs 20L plus on the road for a 103 Bhp, 137 NM torque car.

The AWD should have been provided in the lower variants too, as they are offering the strong Hybrid in the lower variants. Those who want a car with all the bells & whistles will always have the option to buy the top variant. With the latest NGT rules, many people are looking for a petrol 4x4/AWD. In the 15-18L range, buyers are only left with the Jimny & the Thar 3-door petrol 4x4, which are not practical choices for a bigger family.
The Grand Vitara/Hyryder could have tapped that place. Till Renault launches the new Duster with AWD, the sub 20L section with petrol 4WD is still an untapped market. Plus this would have given Renault some pressure to make the new Duster VFM.

Thirdly, though the market is inclining towards ATs, still few people love MTs! So, keeping the manual AWD would have been good!

But I understand volume does matter. Keeping an assembly line open for a variant that has super-low sales won't help the company.

When I heard the news, the first thing I thought about was the leaked photo of the crash test in the past—and obviously, you!
I'm guessing we can expect the results from (B or G)NCAP soon.

Grand Vitara’s CNG variants don’t come with Smart Hybrid technology, and when driven in petrol mode, there’s only a minimal difference of about 1 km/l in fuel efficiency compared to the regular Smart Hybrid variants.

re: Toyota Hyryder and Grand Vitara now get AWD with AT on Mild hybrid and 6 airbags as standard

The real price increase extends upto Rs.1,01,000/-. News articles mention the price increase is upto Rs.41,000, this is because the old Zeta/Alpha variants are now renamed as optional variants which cost more than the standard variants. Sunroof is the only difference between optional and non optional variants.

I was looking at Zeta AT price expecting the price to come down or remain same as the new one doesn't get sun roof and realized the high price increase.

Zeta AT costs Rs.41,000/- more than the old Zeta AT. The real equivalent of old Zeta AT is the Zeta(O) AT and that costs Rs.60,000/- on top of Zeta AT.

That's a whopping increase of Rs.1,01,000/-. The price difference between old Alpha AT and new Alpha(O) AT comes to Rs.98,000/-.

The price difference is lower for the strong hybrids. Difference is Rs.62,000/- between old Zeta+ and new Zeta+(O) and Rs.69,000/- for old Alpha+ and new Alpha+(O).

Only Alpha+ saw a reduction of Rs.7000 with removal of sun roof, but the O variant of Alpha+ is the most expensive costing Rs.76,000/- more than Alpha+. For all others, the O variant costs Rs.60,000/- more.

The onroad price difference will be even higher.

I’m not sure, but I think they removed the spare tyre from all variants, as the updated Hyryder brochure mentions a tyre repair kit

Correction:
Old Zeta AT did not have sun roof. So please ignore the Zeta AT price difference of Rs.1,01,000/- I mentioned in my previous post. Price difference for Zeta AT is Rs.41,000/-

The price difference is Rs.98,000 for Alpha(O) AT, Rs.62,000 for Zeta+(O) and Rs.69,000/- for Alpha+(O).

Re: Toyota Hyryder and Grand Vitara now get AWD with AT on Mild hybrid and 6 airbags as standard

Have they reduced some features from the base Sigma variant? Like e.g. the brochure seems to suggest that there are no Electrically foldable outside rear view mirrors as also the vanity mirrors both the driver and Co-driver and also the steering mounted controls for the audio whereas afaik the earlier variant clearly used to have all those. Also clarity on spare wheel is also needed.

Will be a very wrong move if it is so.

Cheers...

The removal of the spare tyre is a pretty bad move by Maruti/Toyota for this segment. Have our tier 2 and 3 city/country road/ highways suddenly improved a lot? I believe not.

Cheers...

Re: Toyota Hyryder and Grand Vitara now get AWD with AT on Mild hybrid and 6 airbags as standard

I went to check out the new AT AWD Hyryder at one of the largest dealers of Toyota in Eastern India two days back and the salesperson had no clue about the new variant !!

He went on telling me that AWD only came in the manual version and that there is no AT version. Upon insisting that Toyota has indeed introduced the AT version and only after showing the website of his own company that he relented and told me that he will get back. This was surprising actually that Toyota sales people don’t know of the changes yet even when the website shows the updated portfolio of Hyryder.

Speaking of the car, the headroom is a bummer and the flimsy sunroof cover is downright cheap. Will have to see the updated car in person to come to any conclusion though. As @CEF_Beasts mentioned above about the changes, I doubt that spare wheel will be removed in India. It’s too much of a utility to be ignored by a manufacturer like Suzuki or Toyota, specially in India.

Great to see they didn't wait till a facelift to change that mosquito net cover.

Electric seats... Without memory function they drastically veers towards fancy than utility.

Pretty sad move, considering they went to the extend of two different spare tyre positioning earlier, but now succumbed to cost cutting (or that 0.15km/l gain)

Re: Toyota Hyryder and Grand Vitara now get AWD with AT on Mild hybrid and 6 airbags as standard

Sadly cutting down of features and increasing the price in the guise of safety is the new mantra with Maruti/Toyota. It is confirmed, as is evident from the photos, that they have removed (from the base E / Sigma variant) -

1. Electrically foldable outside mirror (though it is still electrically adjustable)

2. Steering mounted audio controls

3. Spare Tyre

Pretty bad move IMHO.

I have enquired about the deletion of spare tyre from Grand Vitara 2025 variant from our local Nexa dealer in Delhi and it seems to be confirmed. A spare can however be bought from Maruti or outside market.

Re: Toyota Hyryder and Grand Vitara now get AWD with AT on Mild hybrid and 6 airbags as standard

Team,

Have few features from new Grand Vitara 2025 models that attracted me and need below information. I've Oct 2022 Grand Vitara Strong hybrid Alpha plus.

1) Can the new sunroof curtain cloth be used for older models replacing old curtain cloth. Will it make substantial difference in cabin cooling?

If yes, what can be the approx cost of the new sunroof curtain cloth from new Grand Vitara 2025 models with sunroof.

2) Also for the rear window curtains given in newer models.. Is it possible to get this in old models.

If replacing the rear door pads is the only solution, what's can be the approx cost for both rear doors.

3) Can we replace cabin lights in old model to newer LED lights from new GV 2025 model.

Also, is it true that one cannot change the projector LED headlight bulb in Alpha variants as it's completely sealed?

Thanks.
