This all black theme will be able to hide those black scratchy cabin plastics better than other themes used so far.

The Auto Dimming ORVM is still absent in XUV 700 as compared to the Scorpio N which got it last year and ventilated seat implementation is still not effective in 700 compared to the new BE vehicles

Did manufacturers run out of words for the colour black? Since we have Ebony will there be an Ivory edition too?

It is quite interesting that they are busy coming up with colours than fixing obvious short comings . Window shades, ORVM, adjustable seats… it’s quite capable car but even in its late stage of evolution, some of the obvious low hanging issues are not fixed.

Ivory is the default edition with white interiors

Bose Design Studio doing a great job of equating DARK=Ebony

The badge looks hideous though. Should have done the real stealth black with a matte finish similar to Blaze edition and dark accents on the Headlamps & Tail Lamps

I hope they also release a "normal-face" version. Recent Mahindra cars are so well designed, except for the forcefully added cheap looking aggressive face.

True. And a normal version without those fancy flush door handles. Seriously, if it is not motorised, don't bother giving these ergonomic disasters.

Interesting places was the first thing that crossed my mind after seeing the edition name.

The first dark editions in the Harrier looked good (novelty factor?). Rest of all the dark editions from any manufacturer feels like they dipped the car in black paint and slapped some badges on it,

Harrier`s original design had only one flaw - the unusually big wing mirrors.

It was a fantastic design otherwise, you can see the 'Harrier' in the front end design as well as the rear, in the appropriate color except all black. There was nearly no chrome trim upfront at all. With the arrival of Safari, they made some changes that diluted the character of the design purely from a visual impact perspective.

Indian automotive media thought Harrier was a product of genius gandhian engineering from Tata - at that time. Little did they know what was coming their way.

I find it very difficult to like when the wheels are not distinguished from the vehicle, should have left the wheels with some detailing that's not all black.

Seems like a half-hearted attempt to me.
The alloys are too simple & there is no black roof-liner. Seems like a filler launch till the inevitable facelift arrives

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition launched at Rs 19.64 lakh

All this effort just to launch a combination which already exists

The regular XUV700 in the Ax7 guise gets the black color, with full dechrome and black alloys. Whilst the black upholstery was introduced with the blaze edition. Still, could've just called it the carbon edition like the scorpioN.

I hope they launch the 7XO soon because the 700 has really started to show its age against the updated competition which is a shame as it's mechanical package is unbeatable.

Also, another thing I've noticed is that Mahindra, unlike tata, does not really experiment with CMFG (color material finish and graphics). Most of the models have similar combinations of black grain plastics and white/ off-white leather. The scorpioN and the Roxx get the great looking coffee brown upholstery though. Tata on the other hand has so many combinations for the Nexon and the Harrier / Safari twins. Purple seats, Blue door pads, neon stitching, faux wood, faux metal and they manage to carry it off without being garish. M&M needs to step up its interior game. White interiors are not the only solution to getting a "luxurious" interior.

The updated XUV700 is not too far away, if you look at the XUV500's production timeline.

Launch in 2011
First Facelift in 2015
Second Facelift 2018

Going by these numbers I am sure that Mahindra will bring out the 700 facelift by the end of this year.

From what I hear is we may not see a significant bump in power, but a host of cosmetic changes and few of the electronic niggles getting sorted out

The rumors are that EV version will be launched with Facelifted 700 this year, the date in my opinion will be Mahindra's all time favorite- 15th August
