Exterior
Built on the MQB EVO platform. Available in 6 colours - Persimmon Red Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx While Pearl, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Oyster Silver Metallic and Cipressino Green Metallic (seen here):
Typical VW look. Upper grille is sealed and sports the "R" letter:
Rear is pretty clean except for the mesh detailing and chrome on the bumper:

LED Plus headlamps with DRLs that double up as turn-indicators:
Headlamp clusters are connected by an LED strip that runs just above the upper grille. Lower grille is massive with glossy black mesh detailing. Air dam has horizontal slats. Thick chrome insert looks out of place:
ORVMs have integrated LED turn-indocators.

19-inch Coventry alloy wheels shod with 255/45 section Hankook Ventus Evo tyres. Wheel arches get thin glossy black cladding:

The name "Tiguan" comes from a combination of "Tiger" and "Iguana". While the left rear window features a tiger marking, the right one gets an iguana marking on it:

No markings on the fuel cap. Remember that like other Volkswagen cars today, the Tiguan R-Line runs on petrol only:

2.0L TSI engine puts out 201 BHP and 320 Nm. Its mated to a 7-speed DSG AT and has a claimed FE of 12.58 km/l. Also gets and Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC Pro) and a Vehicle Dynamics Manager (XDS), which implements wheel-specific braking interventions and wheel-selective adjustments of the shock absorber damping. Safety kit include 21 Level 2 ADAS features, 9-airbags as standard, TPMS, hill start assist and hill descent control, among others:

Interior is all black with silver and piano black inserts. Soft touch materials have been used at various places:
Passenger side of the dashboard has a glossy black screen with animation. Ambient light (30 colours) strip runs below:
Leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel with silver inserts is nice to hold. It comes with paddles to shift gears:

Rear seat comes with contours and a center armrest with pop-out cupholders. While it comes with three headrests and seatbelts, the shape of the seat makes it comfortable for two adults and not three:
Rear legroom is adequate even for tall occupants. Floor hump is tall and wide:
The Tiguan R-Line comes with a triple zone climate control. Rear A/C vents look plain Jane. Two Type-C USB ports have been provided below:
