With the recent launch of Be6 and XeV9, I think Mahindra will hold on to the second position for some months to come. Sad to see the numbers of Honda. Hope they improve in future.

MG Windsor has to come up with a higher capacity battery in Windsor quickly to arrest the models fall. Windsor is a MUV and Mahindra Be6 and XeV9 are butch looking SUVs with very good range. Windsor has lost its charm now. MG has to stop protecting the old ZS and focus on retaining Windsor sales.

Most BHPians 'feel' for Honda. The question is what are the quick (& less painful) fixes for winning back market share?

They missed the Diesel wave,
They missed the turbo petrol / Dual Clutch wave,
They almost missed the SUV wave (turns out it was a Tsunami so caught some of that)
They are missing the hybrid wave,
And they will miss the electric wave.

There is no redemption for Honda.

Simple fixes:
Fix the NVH issues on the Elevate
Give us the near-mandatory Panoramic Sunroof
Shoehorn the City hybrid powertrain in there

Difficult fixes (longer term):
Develop an EV platform on the City / Elevate pair. Even if it is a retrofit EV and not born EV, it is alright as long as it is efficient! Efficiency is the most important aspect for differentiation of an EV.

Dolphin City (2nd Gen) and the Civic shapes are inherently slippery. Use them to provide class leading efficiency figures in a sea of SUVs. Partner with Hyundai for the powertrain, they seem to have gotten their efficiency game on point. With a slipperier design, they can outdo even the Kona / Creta in terms of km/kWh.

If they don't do both the above fixes, I don't see Honda continuing for much longer considering the finest they will face as soon as the next set of CAFE norms will be in place from April 2027.

They still have 2 years. If not, the fines can get quite steep and they don't have Toyota-like margins to keep paying up.

Succinctly put. I hope Honda India is reading this! The new MD who has recently taken over has his hands full. Best wishes.
