Skoda Octavia has been my drool worthy car. Sculpted looks, top of the line fit and finish and superb ride and handling. I wish they had not taken it off in India, otherwise it would be in my garage.

I am a very big fan of the Tata Sierra. Very eagerly looking forward to the launch.

I am already sure that I am going to get it. Hope the car is as good as I think it will be.

Cheers

Excited for the Golf GTI and Octavia VRS! Carens and Seltos facelift as well is coming, looking forward to the new Duster.

I am waiting for Thar 3 door refresh to launch this year. From exterior its still perfect but interiors are just not upto mark and hopefully refresh will give it a modern vibe.

I am waiting for new EV launches under 15 lacs, mainly 3XO in its EV guise.
I will compare 3XO and Nexon 45 EV and buy one to replace my beater Grand i10 for city use.

- Sierra/Sierra.EV particularly for the AWD. Tata Motors is on a downward spiral. Nothing short of a stellar success in the form of new Sierra will save them.

- MG Majestor. Looks stylish, and an excellent VFM if MG sticks to its roots.

- the XUV700 facelift. If there's one car that needs a facelift, it is the 700. The round halogen stop lights, the muscle flex DRLs, and a ton of other stuff just looks old.

I am waiting for Tata Sierra. Earlier, I have zeroed out Tata Curvv, but due to some reasons, buying a new car got postponed. When I saw Tata Sierra in Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, I questioned myself why can't I wait until Sierra launch. I will decide whether I have to stick to Curvv or change my mind to Sierra once it is launched.

For me, potentially a car buying year and hopefully an EV:

Maruti: Vitara EV
Toyota: Vitara twin
M&M: XEV700
Byd: Sealion
Tata: Sierra, Harrier
Kia: Seltos EV

Kodiaq vRS

As previous gen Kodiaq 2.0 TSI owner, current version doesn't excite me much to take the leap. But if vRS is coming, I am all in. Skoda is one of rare manufacturers, who are constantly up-tuning their engines with advancing emission norms - especially their 1.8 & 2.0 TSI.

They say it's pretty close to S/T. Dealers have a non-official booking list, although Porsche is expected to open the bookings formally in the 3rd Qtr.

This is something that can fit in any garage as a forever car.

I’m super excited about the next-gen Neue Klasse 3 series.

Certainly the BYD Sealion. This is one EV that I would love to test drive after having experienced the Kia EV6 (after having conveniently forgotten the Seal, thanks to our roads). 523 hp in a SUV sounds brutal and I am all up for it.

The Vanquish - solely as a lovely movie memory coming to life. Cleese introducing the car to Brosnan in Die Another Day as "Aston calls it the Vanquish, we call it the Vanish!" is my most favourite moment with the car.

Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara: Checked it out at a dealership recently and it seemed really well built for a Maruti. But more importantly, I believe that a successful ev from the leading manufacturer will make ev mainstream, curious to see how it will pan out.

Now in 2025, its prices start at Rs 5 lakh for the (almost) same car.
One can say there is a small screen, and airbags and a few more features, but none of this seems to justify the increase of 50% plusin rhe cost. No wonder the small car segment is sluggish!

Agreed that things have become slightly expensive.
Mainly taxation and legislations that have made certain expensive features as standard now are the reason.
To name a few, ABS, ESP, rear seat belts (three pointers) airbags and BS6, along with remote boot and fuel lid opener were features available in mostly top end models back then. Today they are legislated to every car.
These coupled with intermittent tax hikes definitely explain and to some extent justify the price hike.
That and 3.8 lakhs in 1999 are much more value than today's 5 lakhs by any standard.
In contrast, entry level commuter motorcycles in 1999 were barely 35-40 k on road and costs nearly 3 times more today.

I'm eager to see the Sierra on the roads—it’s undoubtedly one of the most exciting launches for me. While I may not be a customer this year, I’m keen to see how TATA continues to refine its quality and service.

As much as I’d love to have a TATA in my garage, ownership experiences give me pause.

New models are always exciting, but a strong foundation in reliability and service should take precedence.

For my next car, I have my eyes set on the Kodiaq if I stick with ICE, or the Ioniq/Sealion if I go electric.
