Kia is celebrating a new milestone with sales of the Carens crossing the 2,00,000-unit mark. The Carens has emerged as one of the fastest-selling models in its segment, taking just 36 months to reach the milestone figure.



According to Kia, top variants account for 24% of the overall Carens sales. 58% of the customers opted for petrol variants, while 42% chose the diesel version. 32% of buyers opted for automatic and iMT variants, and 28% of the buyers opted for the variants with a sunroof. 95% of the total sales came from 7-seater models.

The Kia Carens is also exported to over 70 countries. The company has shipped 24,064 units to global markets.

Kia offers three engine options on the Carens: 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, while transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT.

An all round MPV with a premium feel and lots of features. So far it has been a happy ownership experience for me.

Carens did got a 5 star for child occupancy protection. Needs to achieve the same for the adults.

The diesel is a favorite among fleet and rental agency owners now. The main reason is seating arrangement, and suspension. It is very comfortable. Maintenance is also affordable. Haven't heard of any engine failure or horror stories yet. Some relatives in my family are involved in taxi business, and are considering replacing their ageing diesel Ertigas with the Carens.
