Tata Altroz facelift caught testing; New details revealed

The Tata Altroz is due for a mid-cycle refresh. A camouflaged test mule of the hatchback was recently spotted testing, revealing new details.

The latest spy images suggest that the Altroz facelift is likely to get a new front bumper, featuring a sharper design. The large sweptback headlamp clusters house LEDs with an LED fog lamp placed lower down on the bumper.

Tata Motors also appears to have made some changes to the rear end of the Altroz. The car is likely to get revised taillights featuring slim LEDs.

One of the spy images reveals a large touchscreen infotainment system, possibly a 10.25-inch unit. Besides this, the standard Altroz might also get features like ventilated front seats and a sunroof.

Mechanically, the Altroz facelift will be identical to the outgoing model. It will be offered with the same 1.2-litre petrol, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Finally Altroz gets an update. Hope they introduce an automatic with the turbo petrol. Is there any chance of Hyperion and Kryojet being introduced into the Altroz? Hope they do it, but considering Tata they may not.

Please don't give this a family look ( I hate it) and the touchscreen steering wheel. These two things aside, give it ADAS and any other safety features required in today's time. And don't give it the panoramic sunroof. Make the 1.2 TCMPFI engine standard, and the 1.2 TGDI motor for racer variants, and add an automatic transmission for the 1.5 diesel. What about CNG AMT like in Tiago Tigor ? And please introduce the EV variant this time.

A long overdue facelift, Altroz has retained the same design ever since launch and a facelift will only do good for the car, providing it with the engines from the Nexon in the same state of tune and the same gearboxes along with features to surpass the competition and the Altroz will surely set the sales registers ringing!

Looks like it won't be getting the connected lights.

Bye bye old steering wheel. You were great to hold and use, even though execution was flawed, the design and horn pad were well suited for our roads.

Looking forward to staring at a block of cheap glossy plastic with an illuminated logo.

Altroz is a fantastic vehicle, let down by a mediocre engine.

Wouldn't plonking the Nexon-tune into the Altroz cannibalise Nexon sales?

I really don't want Tata to completely fill the cabin with piano black plastic all around.

It's already quite feature packed, so a nice fresh look on the outside should keep it going till the next generation arrives later on.

What do you mean? I don't feel anything wrong with the current Altroz steering.

Could this be the EV version considering the front grill is closed off?

Re: Tata Altroz facelift caught testing; New details revealed

This looks like the Altroz EV and not the facelift. Just look at the wheels. Doesn't the design seem like that of an EV? Also, the grill seems to be sealed off.

And if it's just a facelift after all these 6 years, TATA can expect the car to sink without a trace. I mean seriously, just a facelift when an all new generation should be arriving ?

BTW, could it be because Pratap Bose left TATA, and that they haven't found a good designer yet?

Yes I have friends at TAMO who told me that Tata was working on Altroz EV and so this must be it. They told me that it will carry the specs of the Long Range Nexon EV

Does Tata ever plan on putting a 4 cylinder motor into this thing or will unrefined petrol engines and rusting issues forever plague small Tata cars?

The steering feel is sweet. Best one I may say in modern cheap cars.

But the horn button execution could be better. In theory it is great for our traffic conditions. But all the ones I have seen had some problem or other. Either one side won't work properly, while the other side would work perfectly. Or both would work fine, but button feel would be different. Left side maybe aligned, fitted correctly, while the right side would be raised above tolerance level. That said, way better than the glossy plastic blocks they sell now.

Expecting it from the same TATA that refuse to give a proper generation change to their biggest seller, instead updating it heavily ?

Anyone who wants an SUV will get an SUV, so the extent of cannibalization will be much less, for example, take a look at the i20 and Venue, both had the same engines up until last year when the 1.0 Turbo was reserved for the i20 N-Line. However, I don't think Tata will indeed plonk the same engines from the Nexon the Altroz, just wishful thinking on my part.

Moreover, it seems this isn't even the facelift, it could be the Altroz EV, which may provide a picture on what to expect from the Altroz facelift.
