Maruti Suzuki has commenced production at its newly constructed Kharkhoda plant. It is the carmaker’s third manufacturing unit in Haryana and the fourth in India.
The foundation stone for the Kharkhoda plant was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2022. It will have an annual production capacity of 2,50,000 units in the first phase, and once fully operational, the facility will be able to produce 1 million units per year.
Maruti Suzuki plans to expand its annual production capacity in India to 4 million units, and the Kharkhoda plant will be a key to achieving this. Together with the Suzuki Motor Gujarat, the total capacity will stand at 2.6 million units. Another greenfield facility with a capacity of 1 million units is planned.

Maruti can now officially manufacture 2 lakh cars a month in India. With Brezza moving from Gurgaon plant to the new Kharkhoda plant, I guess there will be ample capacity now to ramp up Jimny's production and bring down the waiting period internationally.
