This is the Honda Pilot, an SUV that's bigger, more power and much more meaner than the softroading CR-V.
It comes with a 3.5 ltr V6 engine, pumping out a chaotic 240-bhp@5400 and 242-lbft@4500 rpm.
It's 7" wider, 7" longer and 5" taller than the latest CR-V which claims to to be bigger than it's predecessor.
The Pilot has a 5 star safety rating putting it on par with the CR-V, even in terms of safety.

So, would a car like this appeal to the Indian customer, more than the CR-V?
this could have battled with the terracan...the same way how crv would battle the up come new hyundai suv
We can have both of them in the market but I guess there will be a limited market for it in india as it is available with a petrol engine only.

its amazing .. but as of now it wont to wonders in the market.....
and with the increase in power and length and stuff there will be increase in the price tag
well, right now there isnt a market for such highend suvs as thats nearing the pajero terrritory
also it doesnt look very good .
maybe a year down the line with freshened looks perhaps
cheers
lambo
The Pilot is ok looking .. nothing of a stunner actually. And if its against the Terracan this would be priced around say 20 lakh rupees. And it certainly doesnt feel like a 20 L rupee car. Interior look cheap and downmarket for a car of this category. The Terracan isnt selling well and this would fall in the same category. And the Terracan has the CRDi and the Honda I guess will have only petrol.
I would rather still buy an Endeavor. Sure it doesnt come with great interiors or performance but I get a decently performing TD engine and great off roading capabilities at a sticker price of 15 lakhs . And from the pic I assume the Endeavor is a bigger vehicle
Dippy
dippy, i feel the interiors are better than the terracans and though im a big fan of the nedeavour , i would love a crdi powerplant in it
honda pilot is awesome...driven one fro a week...freaked out on it..the terracan or endeavour is no where close to its power and stability..would definitely buy one if it came to india..
Aactually this one would be more of a competitor to the Pajeros and Prados, it surely needs a facelift as the front resembles the old Honda City, the old look CR-V had a similar design so i'm guessing that Honda is planning to give it a diff look.
Maybe with improved interiors and a CTD-i engine, this would make a very good SUV to have. Pricing would be crucial. *
CaliAtenza tells me that he's seen more Pilots in the US than CR-Vs, maybe bcoz people there love big SUV's with big engines.

Then I guess I was wrong . The price range would then go into the 30 lakh category and I don think the Terracan would be competing though the Terracan is a rather huge vehicle
Dippy
It is actually an Isuzu built for Honda
Not sure about the price. In the US this vehicle costs between 27,000 - 32,000 dollars. The top end Accord V6 sedan in the US is almost 28,700 dollars and here it's around 17 lakhs (x-showroom).
So, if a 28,700 $ Accord is priced at 17 lakhs then a 32000 $ Pilot would cost around 18.95 lakhs, lets keep it at 21-22lakhs, onroad. Nice, considering that the latter will be the top end model.
The Pajero GLX was costing 23.46 lakhs* and the Nissan X-trail was 23.81 lakhs* (*x-showroom) in Bbay in the month of November-04. *

It is an Isuzu model rebadged for Honda to sell in the US
specifically, it is an Isuzu Rodeo assembled in Canada with Honda's engine in it. Not sold outside the americas
