Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz likely to be discontinued by April 2025

It was one of the great products Maruti released. I had the luxury of sitting in a Ciaz a number of times, and loved the legroom it offered. Too bad, that the days of this segment are numbered and probably, we saw this coming as Ciaz received no updates since a long time.

One of the last elegant cars of India. I admire it whenever I see one parked.

It deserves to go before getting turned into another edgy freak.

Good riddance. It was an uninspiring, boring and antiquated vehicle and clearly MS had no intention of bringing it to latest gen technology because the sedan market is dying.

If I am in the market for a sedan, it could either be exciting like the 150 + ps Verna/Virtus or something stately like a Camry kind of car. Ciaz is neither of the two by a long shot.
It could’ve been updated though. If it got the strong hybrid system from the Grand Vitara it would’ve been a strong, fuel efficient alternative to the Virtus and Slavia

Especially if Toyota sold it under the Corolla name plate

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz likely to be discontinued by April 2025

It was a very VFM product. The space & comfort on offer was simply stellar a stark contrast to my 2018 Verna. The K15B motor used to sound great in the top end as well.

It was the best cheap chauffer driven experience in the C Segment

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz likely to be discontinued by April 2025

Well-engineered and up-to-international standard or spec models from Maruti rarely do well in India, be it the Old Grand Vitara, SX4, Kizashi, S-Cross and now the Ciaz. The Jimny isn't too far behind and will slowly but surely join the list soon.

No wonder Maruti took its own sweet time to launch the Jimny here, but when they did they launched the 5-Door for better practicality, but still it failed! As regards the Ciaz, we have a Diesel Ciaz in the family and it has seen huge running, It is a reliable workhorse with great mileage, low maintenance and loads of space, moreover, our company had the Ciaz as the car offered to recruits in the UAE and Oman and it was as good a car you could get in the budget with great mileage and cheap maintenance, sad to see it go, but it was inevitable considering the low sales, Maruit's lack of interest in updating it and waning popularity of sedans.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz likely to be discontinued by April 2025

Will certainly miss the Ciaz. Drove adequately well and ticked most boxes in terms of practicality and drivability.

Anybody looking to upgrade from their 8 - 10 year old hatchback or looking to add a 2nd car to their garage, Ciaz makes a great case for itself now with good discounts before the product is sunset.
1.5ltr NA 4 cylinder engine, no fancy electronics, simple hybrid, easy maintenance, availability of parts and service network all works in its favor.

I've been recommending this to some of my friends who love their cars in a non-enthusiast, practical and utilitarian way.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz likely to be discontinued by April 2025

I don't understand this reaction to the news. Ciaz was an OLD car, it was running only on Govt and maybe fleet support. It did not have much customer love left, only nostalgia.

Whatever Ciaz can do, Honda City can do BETTER and more.

It is equally (if not more) reliable, spacious, comfortable; but it is also more modern, better equipped, better looking, safer, powerful, and has a much better powertrain.

Surely it is more expensive than Ciaz, but the difference is not much. As suggested by others, Honda should surely launch a Base/Corporate version of the City to fill the gap; but Honda being Honda, that will not happen.

Despite all that, city sold lesser than the ciaz last month.

City, though a slightly better car than the ciaz, has lost its charm even in the last generation.

That 1.5 NA has been flogged for over 2 decades now. City definitely needs a better engine to compete with the VAG and Korean counterparts.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz likely to be discontinued by April 2025

I had the privilege of owning a Ciaz for the past 8 years.
Mine was a 2016 Vxi+ , which ran 68K and I had sold it Last month.

For me that car was fun to drive around the corners and I had done umpteen western Ghats trip. It never let us down once, suspension was sorted, space was ample and the car had an Air of Reliability around it.

I have had it remapped, shode it with Michelin Primacy , and had replaced default brake to Brembos.

Alas we would miss it, for the memories and the safe passage it have provided us for all those years.

Adieu..

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz likely to be discontinued by April 2025

Sad to see Maruti is giving up on Ciaz.

Ciaz was one of the contenders when we bought Honda City in 2017 as a second car at home. During that time, my dad had almost decided to book Ciaz in Diesel guise due to being VFM, the mileage it offered and had similar rear seat comfort as City but I was simply against getting one as I always wanted the City, which was/is my dream and also, I never wanted a Maruti to enter into our garage and in fact, I had lamented in front of dad regarding this.

Almost 8 years with the Honda City and I don't regret getting the Ciaz.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz likely to be discontinued by April 2025

Gave up my ciaz with a heavy heart after almost 9 years as we needed a bigger car to travel with the dog. Never had an issue. Rock solid reliability, fantastic mileage and space. Sad to see it go. But, i'm glad that Maruti is giving it a respectable send off

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz likely to be discontinued by April 2025

Ciaz was undeniably a very VFM kind of car with a good design, spacious interior and a good engine. I am surprised by the fact that Maruti is not planning to launch its facelift or new gen model. Most probably another sedan model off the market. At this rate, the only sedans which will be left in our country are the dzire, aura (which are also pseudo sedans).

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz likely to be discontinued by April 2025

One of the best cars I ever had. Fast, stable and supremely comfortable to drive on long trips. I hope one day this suv madness will reduce and the sedan segment will survive. The Slavia I have now has taken the game further than the Ciaz but not by much. This Hurts...

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz likely to be discontinued by April 2025

Not surprised to be honest, I never felt Ciaz was a worthy successor to SX4. Maruti has this habit of letting go of its good offerings and coming up with some not really exciting propositions.

SX4 was truly a mind blowing sedan of its time with the ground clearance, ample of space, powerful 1.6 engine, spacious boot, excellent aircon and pretty good features for its time. You could just take it anywhere blindly and be rest assured of a great drive. Having owned one, it is one car which I and my family truly miss till date!

In comparison Ciaz lost that wonderful engine, ground clearance and pretty much the looks as well. At best, it was an okayish car for chauffeur driven folks with as usual focus only on mileage. Having driven it, felt so underpowered that it needed frequent gear shifts even for city driving. And Maruti never bothered to upgrade it or keep up with times.

Not sure, if there is a plan to bring a new car to replace Ciaz. However with Maruti, don't think anything exciting would be heading our way anyways.
