Re: Audi A8 L, RS 5 Sportback discontinued in India

This is really sad, the mighty A8L having such a unique feature- the foot massage, was a big reason to be my parents' favourite luxury sedan which is now discontinued. Also the RS5 being my favourite sports car which also is no more with us brings me to aim for the S5 as my ultimate goal:(
Heart wrenching to see great cars leaving us slowly!

A8 has been removed but the 2025 RS5 is currently listed on Audi's official Website. http://www.audi.in/en/models/a5/s5-s.../configurator/ - perhaps an indication of the facelift being launched in India this year?

Pity there are no signs of RS3 hatchback/sedan though, if these cars come to India. The original RS5 was priced competitively (for a CBU considering CKD 340i is not too far behind) at 78Lakh ex-showroom so a CKD 2.5L RS3 in-line 5 will give the Golf and the Octavia VRs a run for their money (60Lakh range ex-showroom). Currently there are no alternatives for the B58 M340i at 75Lakh ex showroom and S58 M2 at 1Cr Ex-showroom when looking for a performance car with a proper engine under the hood. Hope manufacturers understand that India has a huge aspirational market of young audience who have the need for speed but not the budget for 1Cr+ cars. All the empty N-line, M-Sport, RS badges without giving option for engine upgrade is just empty noise without committing to performance imo.

In today's age of downsizing, electronic non-sense and hybridization we can only hope India gets a taste of Audi's 2.5L TFSI or BMW's B58 (in other guises like the X3 or the M240i). In the dying decade of pure ICE engines hope CKD higher spec cars are prioritized by all manufacturers before EV's take over the sports segment as well.

Affordable performance cars - all manufacturers know sales are limited so the attitude seems to be might as well price it at a premium put 0 effort; just spend on marketing/milking every rupee from their fanbase and take the CBU route. But the effect of these cars on the road, on passengers and most importantly the driver is being the silent torchbearer of the brand for the years to come. The pinnacle of a company's performance and engineering but within reach of the common man is what we remember brands by and not their mythical global flagships. Brands like the Mitsubishi, Honda, Chevrolet, Ford are declining/dead but the memories of Lancers, Civics and Cruise are more likely not.
