Looks like the aurora black X-line is gone. Limited to only the matte paint now. Those who got the black one are really lucky. It was one good looking car with minimum chrome and those who didn't want the apprehension of having a matte painted car.

I wonder if the variants rejigging has something to do with the product placement of Syros; else, with the numerous variants and overlap of Sonet/ Seltos/ Carens, there will be a lot of cannibalization and confusion once Syros is available.

So it looks like the iMT version hasn't taken off with the Indian car lovers. It is indeed surprising as I thought this would be the version of choice for manual transmission lovers given that it gives the ease of auto coupled with manual transmission.

This should have been a major hit and relief to the tour operators as driver fatigue would have reduced a great deal.

Surprisingly Hyundai never offered this transmission on their cars except Venue.

That being said, actually I planned to purchase Carens premium IMT diesel in 2025 for family long trips. Which was discontinued in IMT in base variant. now diesel does not get IMT. I wonder why people do not like IMT

iMT is a boon in bumper to bumper traffic.
Used it in the harrowing Auto Expo jam (Sonet HTX iMT Petrol)

MT = Clutch pedal press will fatigue your left leg in no time

DCT = Gear knob has to be moved from D to N if stop duration >10 secs to prevent overheating / clutch plate damage

Hyundai i20 (2020) and i20 N-Line 1.0L Turbo were initially launched with the option of an iMT/DCT. Later in 2023, the iMT was discontinued in favour of an MT with the facelift.

Even the Creta had the iMT for a brief period of time.

Re: Kia discontinues Sonet, Seltos, Carens diesel-iMT variants; New variants added

When I was enquiring with dealers for Seltos last year around March, all sales person were showing iMT and test drive cars were also available with iMT gearbox. As per sales, iMT had decent number of sales last year.

I have test driven Seltos diesel iMT and it felt very easy to drive in bumper to bumper traffic. The hill hold worked well with iMT diesel on 35 degree incline. The car did not roll back and pulled very cleanly without any throttle input. I was impressed by iMT and was also planning to take iMT. Hector CVT struggled to launch on the same stretch and required lot more throttle input to start rolling.

Does iMT gearbox discontinuation indicate any issue with the gear box or just few sales numbers?
