A couple of corrections:
1) There is no Sunroof. It's a fixed, small size Glass MoonRoof, unlike Windsor.

2) The Rear Seats are 40-20-40 configuration with sliding and tilting of course in 60-40 configuration.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

While the specifications looks good, I wonder why did Maruti choose to have the charging port on the passenger side. In India where parking space is limited, the charging port can be placed in a neutral position at front (some might disagree as it will be first pace to get damaged in case of a frontal crash).

The best side in my opinion is on the driver side. This is because, whenever you park in a tight place, you are more likely to have more space on the driver side (for the driver to get out after parking).

I am in the market for an EV and this charge port placement was a deal breaker for me. Else eVitara had checked all my boxes :( .

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

I feel like the E Vitara would be a much more rounded offering by Maruti compared to Hyundai's half hearted attempt with Creta Electric. Surprising because it seemed like Maruti was (is also currently) betting more on Hybrids and Hyundai was betting big on Electrics.

Eagerly watching this space!

More details of the Indian spec. e Vitara.

- Will have a range of 500km

- The new e Vitara will be offered with two battery pack options — 49kWh and 61kWh.

- The Lithium Ferro-Phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry remains the same for both.

-The entire battery pack from BYD, instead of assembling it in-house.

- The India-spec e Vitara will be offered only in a 2WD configuration at the start.

-The smaller 49kWh battery will be paired with a single electric motor, producing 142bhp and 192.5Nm of torque

-The larger 61kWh battery pack has a higher output of 172bhp, while the torque remains the same at 192.5Nm.

-The cell-to-pack configuration uses a sophisticated thermal management system to ensure optimal performance from the battery even at extreme temperatures ranging from as low as -30°C to 60°C.

-The Maruti e Vitara boasts new tech including ADAS and more but also can adapt to various driving conditions.

- It gets an adaptive grille and a regenerative mode that can enable one-pedal driving.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

It is good to see Maruti is providing ADAS, 7 air bags in eVitara. Maruti who was not too keen to bet on EV has a bigger battery as compared to Hyundai who already has born EVs in their global portfolio. Maruti is leading ahead of Creta Electric in battery capacity and claimed range.

I don't see any Maruti brochure what testing method was used (ARAI, WLTP, MIDC 1 or MIDC 2) to claim 500 km range. The ARAI ranges are always very far off from real world EV ranges. If this range was using MIDC 2 or WLTP then I would feel comfortable with 500 km claimed range which may translated to about 400 km of real world range.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Just 70KW max DC fast charging speed for a born electric car? They claimed a 150 KW charging speed in the UK launch. Did they order a battery pack from BYD based on 3-year-old technology including BMS? Most Chinese companies including BYD used to have very low fast charging speed just 3-4 years back with average BMS. Tesla with BYD batteries has had much faster charging speeds than BYD's cars for a few years.

There were several press releases from Suzuki (and Toyota) about EV investments including batteries for the last 4-5 years, and all they came up with was a Nexon competitor. These are already outdated for the Indian market itself after the launch of Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e. These will do even badly in European markets due to pathetic EV specs.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

On paper, yes, the Mahindra just offers way more in every aspect. Of course, this is highly dependent on the pricing of the Vitara. Better something than nothing I guess, for Maruti Suzuki. But, isn't this already expected from Japanese companies operating in India. This is their typical playbook. The Vitara looks nice in my opinion. The Mahindra looks awesome. I'm guessing the E Vitara will sell, based on the response Maruti got for the Fronx, another nice looking car with average specs. Again, pricing is key here for E Vitara.

If its 2WD only at launch, is it a Front wheel drive or a rear wheel drive like Mahindras BE6, XE9 ? Can you please confirm ? from the info available here, looks like its only FWD.

In one of the interviews Maruti confirmed its their internal testing which should be modeled on WLTP. This is a really good number considering smaller battery pack.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Anyone knows the launch timeline for this? I am in a bit of a pickle-

I booked the Windsor EV which will cost me a total of 17Lakh on road for the top model including everything.

Then i read there are rumors a bigger battery pack will come- maybe I should hold?

Then there is the E-vitara. Although the space in Windsor is commendable, won't a Japanese product be better? I am really on the fence cause of the pricing that Maruti will do, if it crosses 18L for zeta model on road price, I don't think its VFM

Missed opportunity by Suzuki again. I am sick of Suzuki's treatment of Indian customers like this. AWD would have made a very enticing buy for many people within 25-30L. Many vehicles sold in Japan like Ignis, Fronx have AWD there, despite being manufactured here in India.

The e-Vitara will definitely cost more on road for the base variant because of it's larger battery pack plus the fact that the entire battery + BMS is imported.

If your use-case is 90%+ city driving and you have home charging, I don't think the bigger battery will be helpful but the interior space and comfort of Windsor will be appreciated every day.

If you see the need for a bigger battery, I would pick the ZS EV base variant over the Vitara because it's a proven car with much more power and better interiors (subjective)
