Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

I called up 2 dealers in Thrissur, Kerala and got mixed responses.

Dealer #1 (Popular Vehicles), is a very large dealer in KL with many showroom accross the state- as per them, the vehicle is on display in their Kochi and Trivandrum Nexa showroom, while they expect a display car in Thrissur within the next 2 weeks. They have no clue about the launch date.

Dealer #2 (BRD car world) also has no clue about the launch date. They initially said August 2025, but we're quick to retract their statement. They too don't have a display car yet.

Both dealers have no clue about pricing, but are accepting pre-bookings.

Not sure what strategy is Maruti using to launch this car, but too much suspense can be a turn off as well. I hope the car lives up to the hype being generated.

PS(Rant!) : Called Mahindra showroom (Eeram motors) for an enquiry on BE6. Reception lady said an executive will call me back. Then I got an e-broucher and a few photos with a "call on <sales guy's mobile number> for more details" on my WhatsApp.

No calls to gauge interest, when asked for prices list - no response. I guess they have enough bookings to ignore new potential customers.

While I was already turned off by the design choice but was still thinking of giving the BE6 a chance, now Mahindra just gave me a good excuse to not consider the car at all!

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Haven't heard any update on Maruti's charging station installations. Has anyone noticed anything at service center or showroom recently ?
Seems like work in progress (perhaps delayed) which might explain the launch timeline of car itself.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Likely to Launch Next Month.

According to sources, Maruti e Vitara will likely launch in India next month. Maruti has started accepting pre-bookings for the electric SUV, which will be available with two battery pack options and three variants.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

I wonder why is it taking Maruti Suzuki so much delay to really launch this vehicle? They are known for their trust and reliability so I have a doubt - whether its due to some niggle in the final product that they are holding the launch?

Side note - When I see eVitara I see resemblance to Spresso in overall silhouette - I think eVitara is the premium adoption of the original concept from which Spresso was evolved.

I really like the design of eVitara - both interior and exterior. Actually we are eagerly waiting for its launch to take a decision on whetyer this one or MG Windsor for my sister.

The Suzuki e Vitara and Toyota's Urban Cruiser are being prioritized for European markets, and they are in the process of building volumes as Toyota's model have bookings open and prices announced for Norway.

In all probability the Indian launch will be in May with the e Vitra leading the way with the Urban Criser coming in the festive season (August - October).

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

How is it that the 49 kWh Urban Cruiser can cost roughly the same as a Tesla Model 3 Standard range (60 kWh)?

The 2WD 61kWh also is listed at a price roughly the same as a Tesla Model 3 Long Range (78.1 kWh) RWD.

Are they even in the same zip code in terms of positioning? Or is it a sign of things to come? With the current stance of the Trump administration and how Indians are bending over backwards for them, I doubt if Suzuki can sell anything in India as well if it ends up being priced roughly equal to a Tesla.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Why hasn't Maruti launched the E-vitara yet? Are they also observing the response that other EVs are receiving?
Maruti would undoubtedly charge a premium for the E-Vitara, possibly as much as 27L to 28L on-road price in Mumbai for the top variant. They probably won't go for volumes here.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

The margin on this car for exports is so mouth watering; imagine Suzuki taking home profits north of 10 lakhs per every car they sell. It needs a study on what took them so long to shift the manufacturing base to India.

This UK reviewer claims boot space of 244-310 litre for 61kwh battery which indeed seems smaller compared to competitors. But looking at the pictures/videos so far, I felt the Indian version has more space 🤔

If they do decide to bring the AWD version at a later stage, I wouldn't spend more than a lakh extra on it.
I haven't checked out the power and torque figures yet. But from what I understood, Suzuki wants to sell this as a 500 km range car right? And if that's their plan, the only other competition in the market is the BE6 79 kWh.

While the BE6 is truly a leap forward in technology and is in a sense value for money, the other side of the coin I see is making an impression that a 4.3m mid size SUV EV with 500km of range can be sold for 30L+ otr. This I feel is a significant problem. A good ICE 4.3m SUV can be had easily for 22-23. L and one has to bear a cool 8L premium to get the EV with usable long distance range. Add the diesel for comparison and you will get the EV only if you're all for the environment (even that is debatable).

I expect this will land at about 27L otr for the highest trim.
