Dilip Chhabria’s DC Design will be showcasing its latest creations at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo, with the main attraction being the DC2 Mercury.



The DC Design DC2 Mercury is based on a Humvee and features completely redesigned bodywork. The teaser shared by the company does give us a hint of what we can expect.

The DC2 Mercury appears to have a wraparound windscreen with a canopy-like roofline. The car has massively flared fenders and an upright front fascia. Also, note the ORVMs have been replaced with rearview cameras.



Technical specifications of the DC2 Mercury are currently not available. These details will be shared at the time of unveiling.

I've seen this SUV rendering on their Insta post. Typical DC ugliness is guaranteed. I suspect it is based on Thar and not Humvee but who's to say.

However, his Insta posts also suggest that the DC2 Mercury is a BUS.
Also, DC2 Mercury seems to be name of a company where DC does the styling with EV underpinnings from Mercury EV Tech. Never heard of the company though.

I remember something on the lines that he was arrested and company was seized. That is why the name of the new venture is DC2.

But, how is he getting money to do these launches? Also what's the customer base? Who in their right mind would fund this guy?

His court cases for fraud are still ongoing & the old organisation is dead. He has started a new company called "DC2" (link to their Instagram page).

I really don't see a point of these modded supercars. Who really buys them (I know some Bollywood stars bought them years back when there was not much options available in India).

He takes an already great/unique car, destroys all the structural integrity (including the 'carefully designed' crumple zones), reconstructs it using some questionable techniques (like tinkering, cut-pasting) and materials, finish which will not last and adds unnecessary weight in the process. I am not getting in to design/aesthetics as it is subjective (which I find them to be horrendous)

It's big business, look at all the companies turning perfectly fine Range Rovers into grotesque creations eg Overfinch, Urban, Revere, Kahn etc etc....

For a circa 80s kid, seeing pictures of DC Designs in Auto India was exhilarating, especially when options in the Indian market were so limited. Though I only glimpsed these creations in photos and had little insight into their actual build quality, the anticipation of what new designs DC would unveil kept my excitement alive. For countless Indian car enthusiasts who sketched their dream cars in notebooks, DC served as a true source of inspiration.

Sadly, (and of his own making) he has faced a significant decline, marred by allegations of fraud and mismanagement, further compounded by the tragic loss of his son. I sincerely hope he can rebuild his reputation and make a meaningful comeback.

HUMVEE or Hummer? I would be really surprised if these guys got their hands on a real HUMVEE. If its Hummer, why now years after it was discontinued and when there are far better platforms available for them to butcher hideously. From the IG post it looks like giant Hotwheels car. Please share more of his monstrosity when they showcase!
