The standard warranty covers manufacturing and material defects. It can be transferred to the new owner in case the vehicle is sold.

Including the all-electric E-C3, Citroen currently offers five models in India. The new warranty will be available on the ICE range, which includes the C3, Aircross, Basalt, and the C5 Aircross SUV. Citroen offers a range of flexible extended warranty options across its model range as well.

Why aren't electric vehicles included in the warranty? Am I missing something here?

Nice to see it can be carried over to the new owner as well. Citroen are doing good things as of late. Just need their service network to expand further.

Re: Citroen announces 3 year/1 lakh km warranty on all models

Generally, I am wary of buying cars from companies with a limited footprint in India because they can pack up and leave any time, leaving the buyers stranded for service and spares.

However, I test drove the C3 Shine AT with the 205 nm Turbo Engine and 6-Speed A Torque Converter gearbox and after discounts at 11 lakhs approx on the road was too good a deal to pass up. I ended up booking one.

That's because their EVs have a better warranty already.

The eC3 has overall vehicle warranty of 3 years or 125k KMs.

On the HV battery, they are providing 3 years or 125k KMs for commercial usage
and 7 years or 140k KMs for personal usage.

What's really commendable is that they seem to be the only EV manufacturer in India publicly stating the battery degradation capacity at 70%

Interesting, so Citroen is liable to change the battery if it drops below 70 percent capacity?
70 percent is actually a pretty high rate of degradation for a modern EV but Citroen is using air cooled batteries so I am guessing the ec3's will all age quite poorly.

Citroen India's strategy: too little, too late.

Why these half arse attempts? Skoda/Volkswagen offers 4 yrs/1lakh km standard warranty on all vehicles. Citroen should have matched or exceeded that.

Yes, to be honest a 3 year/1L km warranty feels at best average. Maybe I'm wrong but my reaction was, why is Citroen trumpeting this in an ad?

Wonder what all the fuss is with this special announcement? 6 Years or 100k KMS would have really mattered for those who wonder if this company would survive the next 3 years.

Re: Citroen announces 3 year/1 lakh km warranty on all models

Would like to chime in on this, and leave this reply here for anyone that finds it.

I recall posting somewhere in Team-BHP before about our experiences in Singapore with the 1.2 EB Turbo PureTech engine, to give some perspective since this product has relatively recently made landfall in India.

In 2016/2017, when our COE (Certificate Of Entitlement) was particularly cheap, the authorised agents of both Citroen and Peugeot made the pitch that "for just a bit more than a Korean car, you can have European comfort". On this, they were right. C3 Aircrosses, C4 Cactuses (Cacti?), 308s, 3008s, Opel Crossland and Grandland, etc., flew off the shelves. Now, as many of these cars enter the 7-8 year mark, some owners have gotten badly burnt.

There are two major design issues with this engine, one of which is well discussed by now, and another which needs more light shed:
1) Cracking and eventual snapping of the timing belt, which runs in the engine oil.
2) Engine oil dilution. This is hardly spoken of. But it is actually what causes the engine to fall apart. Especially in vehicles with low usage, fuel dilution of the engine oil is known to occur. This causes the oil to become both abrasive and corrosive - not just to the belt, but also the piston rings and cylinder walls. In this engine, it is exacerbated by the use of low-tension piston rings that, while reducing friction (that's why this engine loves to rev!) let fuel droplets through easily to mix with the oil, and also clog easily with sludge or combustion products, causing rapid abrasion of the cylinder walls. An early symptom is high oil consumption, and then the rest will follow.
These two flaws have given rise to many complaints including entire engine replacements and rebuilds. Some of these were done while still under warranty. A few smart souls bought extended dealer warranties that saved them. But some were left shelling out up to SGD8,000 for complete overhauls.

To sum up:
1. This warranty is in line with what Citroen, Peugeot and Opel Singapore give. I have never seen a factory warranty longer than 1 lakh km/5 years on one of these vehicles.
2. Don't buy a C3 if you plan to drive short trips only and want to keep the car for a long time.
3. If you get high oil consumption on a new car, demand for it to be investigated.
4. The engine must be watched very closely past the 1 lakh km mark. We have seen a lot of unsavable piston rings past 120,000km necessitating rebuilds - even if the service intervals are obeyed and the belt is changed on time.
5. Changing the engine oil earlier than 10,000km is strongly recommended if you drive short trips.
6. And, of course, check and if needed replace the timing belt-in-oil before the suggested interval.

This is really concerning.

Citroen is already struggling with their numbers in India and if the wet belt issue is not already addressed, then it is just a matter of time before their already thin customer base will turn against their products.

Then engine and transmission is a gem, which we really have to appreciate.
The improvements in the interior quality in basalt compared to C3 is commendable.
I am rooting for citroen to be successful in India(may be because their cars ar fundamentally sorted) and the products one or two generation down the line will be huge improvements from the current lineup.

Stellantis' prospects don't exactly look stellar, and it's a wonder they'll even make it to next year, let alone have the chance to see the second and third generations of these cars on the road.

With a laundry list of struggling markets, including the US, Europe, and China, it's a miracle they haven't imploded yet. Add that to a dizzying array of brands and models that are either unappealing or completely lacking in value – it's a wonder why they're holding onto so many brands/assets and don't look to sell them to raise more cash in order to invest into markets like India.

Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot and many more...... time to do a fire sale!

Re: Citroen announces 3 year/1 lakh km warranty on all models

Be it Citroen or any other brand who provides this sort of a warranty - How many customers cover 100,000 kms within 3 years? It's not exactly high value for customers. Something like, 5 yrs and 100,000 seems a lot more valuable and customers would truly appreciate it.
