4th-gen Skoda Superb to debut at Bharat Mobility Expo

The fourth-generation Skoda Superb will make its India debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025. The car will be showcased alongside the Octavia RS and new-gen Kodiaq.

The new Superb features a redesigned exterior with a revised front grille and sleeker LED headlamps. The interior is designed on the lines of the new Kodiaq and features a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system and fewer physical buttons.

The new-gen Superb comes with multiple engine options. These include conventional petrol and diesel powertrains as well as a plug-in hybrid that can cover up to 100 km purely on electric power. In India, Skoda is expected to offer the Superb with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. It might also get a diesel engine option.

The latest iteration of the Skoda Superb will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU).

You lost me at CBU. Didn't they learn their lesson? It's going be dead on arrival. Nobody in their right mind would buy an expensive Skoda product when they have many other options like BMW at a comparable price.

I think they feel that the sedan segment is a slow mover and hence are not looking to invest for the Superb. I think they will assemble only the Kodiaq. Superb will be more of a tickbox. Lets see what they do for Octavia as well

Honestly, a well priced new Superb would give the Camry a run for it's money. IIRC Superb and Kodiaq had similar sales figures as well.

What worries me also about the Superb CBU is the country of manufacture. A lot of Tiguan AllSpace CBU From Mexico have had small quality niggles.

It's an opportunity lost for Skoda, for both the Octavia and the Superb - at least till they offer ridiculous discounts like they have with all their other CBU Launches.

Re: 4th-gen Skoda Superb to debut at Bharat Mobility Expo

Can understand Skoda’s challenges in going with CKD for a low volume sedan when market has moved towards SUVs but in that case why bother even having that vehicle in the market since it’s pretty much non saleable at the CBU based price points. If it is to show commitment to the market and their flagship product, they might as well loose money investing in the CKD route instead of steep discount to clear the stock. I do still believe that Superb would have a decent market if Skoda committed to it and does a well priced CKD launch.

4th Gen Skoda Superb @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Big shoutout to libranof1987 for shooting these pictures & his coverage of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Thanks for sharing, man!

The outgoing 3rd generation Superb was launched as a CBU import last year and the 4th generation will also take the same route. It will be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit:

Interestingly, the 2.0 TSI now comes with 4x4 internationally with 261 BHP and 400 Nm of torque:

The new headlamp design is slightly tweaked from the outgoing car. It has 2 LED projectors – one for the low and one for the high beam. A horizontal LED strip underneath serves as a parking light, daytime running light and indicator. The new grille and bumper design look interesting:

The Superb has grown in length and the coefficient of drag has also improved to 0.23 in comparison with the outgoing model:

Skoda has gone with sleeker tail lamps which look good. The tailgate gets Skoda lettering:

Unfortunately, the car was locked and hence we couldn’t click any pictures of the interior:

Re: 4th-gen Skoda Superb to debut at Bharat Mobility Expo

Skoda India to bring back diesel.

The Superb on display at the Auto Expo 2025 has a 2.0-litre diesel engine with AWD.

Quote:
Skoda is getting closer to bringing back diesel engines to India. The Czech company showcased its first diesel car in India after a gap of nearly 5 years at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Show. The engine in question is sat under the hood of the new generation Superb 4X4 on display, with the 2.0 diesel putting out 193hp and 400Nm of torque. While the new generation B9 Superb is likely to be the first diesel car launched by Skoda, it is likely to be followed by others like the Kodiaq and in the not-too-distant future.
Quote:
The reason for the shift in strategy according to Skoda India head Petr Janeba is that Indian customers are still asking for diesel cars. “Upto 80 percent of Skoda cars sold earlier were diesels and customers say they are interested today as well.” Companies like Hyundai, Kia, Tata and Mahindra still have a considerable chunk of sales coming from diesel and this is true of luxury car makers Mercedes and BMW as well. So, Skoda, positioned in the middle of the luxury and executive segments, would benefit considerably from the move. “We are definitely looking to fulfil the demand,” said Janeba.

Re: 4th-gen Skoda Superb to debut at Bharat Mobility Expo

I shot a mail to Skoda sometime in March last year requesting them to launch the Diesel Superb in 4x4.

Here is the Mail:

I am glad that they are listening to customers. Now the only other part is to launch it at a reasonable price.

Re: 4th-gen Skoda Superb to debut at Bharat Mobility Expo

I was at the expo yesterday and was super impressed with the Skoda pavillion. I was told by the Sales representative present there the following:
1. Superb would be CKD priced between 39-48L ex-showroom
2. Octavia RS launched at 49.80L
3. Kodiaq to be CBU and to be launched at 50+ ex-showroom

Additionally the car was open for expreience inside out and looked much more spacious, practical and luxurious as compared to the Camry. The interior design is sinilar to new gen Kodiaq with phigital buttons on the centre console, brown upholstery, adjustable extra thigh support on front seats. The boot remain spacious.

Big fan of Skoda. But what's the point of bringing good cars when one can't match the price. One can't sell CBU cars in India.

So would Skoda be launching the Diesel 4x4 or would it be a FWD? When can we expect the Superb to hit our roads? and Finally, will there be a sunroof on offer on the Superb?
Thanks

Re: 4th-gen Skoda Superb to debut at Bharat Mobility Expo

Showed them Kodiaq's fob from my pocket - they saw me as a potential customer - accepted my request & opened up the car for me.

Had good view from inside & out.
Hoping they launch this version someday in India.

The one on display is a diesel and 4x4 and without sunroof if I remember correctly. Not sure of the exact variant break-up and launch was conveyed as very soon most probably by mid year. The color although was a very nice mist green.
