Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

I wonder how that 1.5 litre engine would pull the additional weight and still be frugal? Is it possible it will come with an upgraded hybrid system? Also Torqnado would be mean turbo charger installed? Just guessing what's in store.

It does the job with XL6 while being efficient at same time. Question is will it suite someone who likes to drive turbo petrols.

I recently had 6 people plus my nephew's hostel admission luggage for 300kms. I didn't feel any noticeable struggle compared to 2-3 people that i usually drive it with.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

The launch must be around June or July this year as was with the Brezza and Grand Vitara. This thing is almost looks ready for production. I hope maruti has tuned it for more power or have a turbocharged variant to compete with rivals.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

This is no 7 seater. It's just another 4.3m, 5 seater, Pseudo SUV, probably the Arena counterpart of the Nexa Grand Vitara. While it should be a July/August Launch this year to meet the festive season head on, the OG Grand Vitara too should get a mid life update around that time. I hear some feature upgrades are in the works as well.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

I'm assuming the styling tweaks to the Grand Vitara facelift and / or seven seater, to be in line with the export/international model, which is sold as the Suzuki S-Cross in Europe.
The interesting thing is that the European S-Cross also has a 1.4 litre, turbocharged petrol engine option. That engine pumps out 140Ps, a healthy amount of torque and meets current Euro emission regulations. It is available with AWD as well.Given the fact that the Indian GV does not enjoy the "small car" tx breaks, it may be worhwhile for Suzuki to introduce this engine in India too.

But then, Suzuki India is inherently a scary cat! Naysayers at Maruti will immediately point out to the fate of the now extinct Baleno RS and the slow selling Fronx 1.0L Turbo. Though strictly speaking, this is an unfair comparison because of the two very disparate vehicle segments. SUV customers want their vehicles to be powerful ad punchy and the introduction of a 1.4 Turbo petrol may just work for Maruti. Hyundai and Kia are not doing too badly. Roughly 20% of their petrol engine model sales, of the Seltos+Carens and Creta+Alcazar, are from the 1.5 TGDi petrol - and those models are not cheap to buy. So, a market does exist. It is is up to the manufacturer to explore it.

Leaving you all with a few screenshots of the Grand Vitara/S-Cross. These pictures are from Suzuki Italy website. Not much change to the exterior. Expect the Indian GV to have much the same along the same lines of tweaked front and rear ends and a possible inclusion of ADAS (basic ADAS consisting of AEB and LKA is mandatory in EU in any case, to meet NCAP criteria)

It no longer pumps out 140bhp. In tune with the latest emissions, it was detuned to 120 bhp something when it was made into a mild hybrid, though torque remained same.

That said. Agree. The Grand Vitara really needs that 1.4l turbo petrol. Not sure if Maruti thinks so. They may say that the hybrid is the performance alternative to the NA engine variant. Or they don't want to localise the decade old K15D boosterjet and manybe looking at a turbo version of the Z12 3 pot. Or a pausible Z15 4 pot NA engine.

The updated 1.4L Turbo engine is being re-worked for the upcoming Swift Sport delivering 150 ps.

Quote:
The power unit is a 1.4L inline 4-cylinder turbo that is also installed in the current model, but the major change is that it will be a 48V mild hybrid.

Moreover, the latest information is that the engine body is not just a carryover, but "a major improvement close to the new development will be added". It is expected to significantly improve output and characteristics.

More pics of the vehicle, courtesy gadiwadi.com
It is said to become the most spacious suv in its segment. The wheelbase also seems to be longer than the current grand vitara. The rear pics even suggest that Maruti might offer allgrip with this vehicle.

Good to see conventional headlight/fog light setup, no doubt it looks bigger than GV, will this come in hybrid?

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

I don't know why but this for sure doesn't feel like a step up from the Grand Vitara.
I might be wrong in my hunch but I was reading up on the Ertiga and found out that it is due for generation update anytime this year or early next year. The 2nd Gen Facelift Ertiga was launch in 2022. Therefore I feel that this 7 seat model might just be the 3rd Gen Ertiga for the Arena retail network and not a bigger Y17 Grand Vitara 7 Seater.

It is definitely not an ertiga for sure.. it looks like a grand vitara and is a 7 seater.

MS is not really a brand that would introduce such a major update to any of their cars within just three years. I personally believe this might be a facelift of the global Vitara, which they will launch it here in India. Let’s see what it turns out to be.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

I believe this is a different vehicle.. just have a look at its orvms.. they are like the s-cross. The pics of the white camouflaged car shows similar orvms to the grand vitara. Maybe testing of 2 different vehicles is going on.

It could be the global s-cross facelift.
