Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

Doesn’t seem to be a 7 seater. Maybe a facelift version? There isn’t any major change in front but the boot door is redesigned. Have they reconfigured the boot to accommodate the battery placement and better luggage volume in boot?

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

Way back in 2011, I was in the market for a diesel car in C+ segment. After the usual test drives,I was undecided between the Toyota Corolla and the GM Cruze.

While the Cruze had a beast of an engine @ 150bhp, the Corolla diesel was powered by a puny 90bhp engine, but with a slight waiting period. Being from the auto industry, it should have been a no brainer to decide on which vehicle to go for. Yet, I remember a friend of mine suggesting to go in for the Toyota diesel considering the brand image, service costs, re-sale value and finally adding that the difference in 0-100 kmph may perhaps be 3 to 4 secs and where were the roads to do that kind of acceleration in our country in general plus that I am not into F1 racing.

Ofcourse, it is another story that I did not pay heed to his advice and went in for the more jazzier Cruze only to sell it after 18 months!

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

If it is indeed a new car in the GV category and having very similar silhouette as that of GV but modified front and back, then Maruti may be trying the Baleno - Fronx strategy.

IMO, they should make a bigger "Grand Brezza" in the 4.3m category, instead of another GV. The bold stance of Brezza is more appealing than the more cross-overish GV style.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

In the market for an MUV.
* Hycross cancelled because it got delayed
* Carens cancelled as it got delayed.
* Decided to wait until next year.
This Maruti 7 seater is not interesting at least in the pictures.

Will wait and watch. Would anyone know when this 7 seater is supposed to come out. ?

Thank you

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

I just wonder how these test cars are wrapped all around even their head/tail lights and blinkers. Is it legal to drive around with all your brake lights and indicator lamps taped up. Or are these tapes translucent type that show the illumination.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

This does not seem large enough to be a 7 seater Grand Vitara.

Could this be the Sub 4M 7 Seater based on the Spacia or the rumored Premium Sub 4M to rival the Kia Syros? Both the options seem ambiguous to me. The Grand Vitara is also completing 3 years of sale in september 2025, so GV Facelift maybe?

If this indeed is the 7 Seater Grand Vitara then it should debut with Z12E Turbo because the K15C is just meh for the 5Seater, only god knows how lethargic its gonna be on the 7Seater Vitara.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

Suzuki has trademarked two new names – Escudo (Vitara in Japan) and Torqnado – one of which could become the official name for the Grand Vitara 7-seater.

Seating Configurations: It will be offered in both 6-seater (captain seats) and 7-seater layouts to cater to different preferences.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

This doesn't look like a 7 seater at all!

The rake of the rear windshield appears too steep for a 7-seater. Wouldn't that intrude into the cabin space for the last row occupants?

This is probably a comprehensive facelift of the existing Grand Vitara.

The current GV looks more '7 seater-ish' than the one spied

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

Why are they launching the 7 seater version of Grand Vitara? To take on Carens and Alcazar? But they already have XL6 on that space. I think they(TKM & MS) should share hybrid powertrain between XL6 and Rumion.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater version spotted testing

Agree with @FlankerFury, the rear seems too compromised for 7 seater & the rear door also seems much like the e-Vitara not anything longer like they have on Ertiga, which is a proper 7-seater. I too believe it will be a facelift on e-Vitara looks to standardise the platform across drivetrains (electric & ICE including hybrid & CNG).

I think this "new" 7-seater could just be the next-gen Ertiga/XL-6. The headlight looks like the leaked image of the next-gen Ertiga headlight.

'Escudo' sounds good. I hope they don't make 'Torqnado' the name. Reminds me of the infamous 'Sharknado' TV movie.

Both vehicles have different number plate placement at rear. Are they really same vehicles?

The car which has its number plate on the bumper is the e-Vitara. The one which has it on the bootlid is the supposed 7 seater Grand Vitara.
