Skoda Kushaq, Slavia and Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus to be recalled due to faulty welding A weld seam on the track control arm may have been missed during the production process
According to a listing on SIAM’s voluntary recall website, select units of the Skoda-Volkswagen India 2.0 cars – Kushaq, Slavia, Taigun, and Virtus – are to be recalled due to a production process irregularity at the component supplier’s end.
As per the listing, it is suspected that during the welding process, the weld seam on the ‘track control arm’ may have been missed. If the said component suffers a failure, it may result in a sudden loss of vehicle control and stability without any prior warning.
A total of 52 vehicles are said to be affected, including 38 units of Taigun and Virtus and 14 units of Kushaq and Slavia. The affected models were manufactured between November 29, 2023, and, January 20, 2024. The recall was officially registered on October 28, 2024.
Skoda-Volkswagen, however, has not yet released an official statement regarding this. Both carmakers will likely get in touch with owners of the affected vehicles for a voluntary inspection and update. As is the case with recalls, the fix will be carried out free of cost.
