Scorpio-N Single Cab Pickup spotted in Pune

Scorpio N Pickup Spied

Saw this on the Mumbai - Bangalore Expressway being tested

A camouflaged Scorpio N pickup being tested in full camouflage (excluding interiors)! I would never have second guessed a single cab version of a Scorpio N, but here it is in the flesh

Key Observations:

  1. This seems to be a commercial/base variant sporting 17 inch steel rims and an all Halogen Setup, with no LEDs/Fog/Projector lamp units
  2. Interior of the car sports a touchscreen and the top of the line TFT Instrument Cluster. Looks like its based on the Z4/Z6 version of the Scorpio N.
  3. Tail lights come from the previous gen Scorpio Pik-up sold in Australia
  4. New Mahindra Logo. As far as I know, Mahindra still uses their old logo on commercial cars

I do wonder the use case for a single cab version of a premium vehicle like the Scorpio. Commercial vehicles do bring down the exclusivity of a car for a private buyer. Also it is a tad smaller than its competitor - Tata Yodha , but similar in size to the Bolero pik-up. It is feature laden though, with automatic climate control, a touchscreen and faux leather brown seats (some of these observations aren't visible in pictures, but clearly evident). I do have a slight feeling that it would replace the Bolero Pik-Up and stay alongside the Maxx range, but only time will tell.

I don't think it is for the Indian market at all. They are possibly testing these extensively out here under various conditions before finally taking a few of these for final set of testing in its eventual market. My guess is that this is going to get launched as the replacement pickup model in SA. May even reach Australia eventually as Mahindra sells these there too.

Edit: The current single cab pickup in SA is based on the scorpio classic.Although I think Australia has the twin cab version again based on the classic.

This looks like a temporary set-up just for testing. I don't think they will pair a ScorpioN cab with the hold of the classic.

Scorpio N Double Cab with all the features (Maybe based on a Z8 or even a Z8L) would be a proper competition to the Hilux. They could name it the Scorpio N Getaway!

This would never be sold in image conscious classist India. The most we will get is a fully loaded double cab 4x4 version for the lifestyle pickup market. Our commercial needs will be fulfilled by the current Bolero/Maxx based pickups and if at all the next gen Bolero based ones that may come after 2027.

This is for the inernational markets, where modern pickups will be used as pickups.

re: Scorpio-N Single Cab Pickup spotted in Pune

There was news about Mahindra trademarking the "Scorpio X" brand name a few months after they teased a pickup concept of the Scorpio N. This one seems to be a more utilitarian version meant for export markets by looking at the size of the bed and 2 door cabin.

No yaar! To be more precise, these are the original Mahindra Scorpio 1st gen, pre-facelift (2002-2006) tail lights. These have been in production for 20+ years now. It jumped to the Scorpio Getaway, sailed the seas to Australia, and has since remained there.

Who in 2002 would have thought this design would still be shipped to Australia in 2024?!
