MG Hector Plus gets two new 7-seater variants: Select Pro Petrol CVT and Smart Pro Diesel MT

MG has launched two new 7-seater variants of the Hector Plus. The SUV is now available in Select Pro Petrol CVT and Smart Pro Diesel MT trims priced at Rs 19,71,800 and Rs 20,64,800 (ex-showroom).

The new Select Pro Petrol CVT and Smart Pro Diesel MT variants come equipped with a digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, an engine start/stop button with Smart Key, and over 75 connected car features.

Both trims get LED projector headlamps, LED tail lamps and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The interior sports a two-tone Argil Brown and Black colour scheme. The SUV also gets leatherette seat upholstery and an electrically adjustable driver seat.

The MG Hector Select Pro Petro CVT variant uses a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine that produces 141 BHP and 250 Nm, paired with a CVT. The Smart Pro Diesel MT trim is powered by the familiar 2.0-litre diesel unit that makes 168 BHP and 350 Nm. It is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

All it needed was a diesel AT and it would've set the sales charts on fire. The petrol AT is a fuel guzzler and a 7 seat family SUV needs diesel.

It's been five and a half years since the Hector is launched, but still they haven't launched the Diesel Automatic, whereas its chief rival Harrier is having AT since 2020!

Absolutely true. I had taken the TD of Hector Petrol AT and did not like the driving dynamics. Chose Harrier AT over Hector.
The situation might have been different if they has Diesel AT. Cant comprehend why they cannot launch an AT in Diesel considering it is the same Fiat sourced engine shared by Tata twins.

My cousin has a petrol Hector Plus. Apart from the poor fuel economy,he is very satisfied with his car.A diesel AT would have made it a near perfect long distance tourer.

I think Hector gets classified as a fuel guzzler a bit unfairly. All other petrol ATs of this class have near about same efficiency. But the car is a gem when it comes to comfort and yes it does need a diesel AT, may be a strong petrol hybrid.
